My advice is to get a 4K or a 5k monitor with the right graphics card to drive it. I have my 5k iMac and a second 4K display next to it. Now I spend all day looking at these displays and when I have to use the crappy displays at headquarters I get headaches
Interesting. You have basically created a collapsible stock (in rifle terms) that you can adjust. I think if (as others have recommended) you out a pictanny rail on your horizontal aluminum section, the you could add any number of grips used on firearms to stabilize wuth the left hand. You could also rig up a shutter release on the grip
Way back in the day in highschool, we dry mounted prints for display, etc. I'm looking for alternatives/recommendations for mounting prints to matte board. One would have thought that dry mount presses would be more reasonable, but everything I've found is in the >$300 range, and for occasional use thats just not in the budget (ok, it is, but I'd rather spend the money on something else that I'd use alot more). Any suggestions/recommendations for mounting.
I have a 5dmkiii also so I don’t need a 3rd body
I got a serious gas attack and bought a 5dmkiv. So I’m selling my 6d body only. 4000 shutter operations. With extended battery pack. Looking at prices on eBay I think $900 is reasonable. Body is in perfect condition never dropped, banged or abused (I’m a bit retentive on handling my camera equipment. Pm me if interested
I have had a Tamaron 200-500 which I used for a few years and was pretty happy with it. I just sold it and bought the Sigma Contemporary 150-600, and I'm extremely happy with it. I don't shoot with the long lens very often, but I do think that the Sigma is a bit better in terms of quality than my Gen 1 Tamaron. Was it enough of a difference to really justify switching. No, but sometimes GAS attacks need an antacid.
I almost exclusively use 3rd party batteries. I have the canon batteries which came with the camera, and about 10 aftermarket ones (yes, i'm paranoid, i carry lots of spare batteries - charging batteries when camping from a motorcycle can be a pain, and batteries are relatively small and fit into all nooks and crannies). My paranoia served several other folks when on a photo trip to Peru last year (not to mention my fixation on spare memory cards (i regularly carry a dozen 32G), 4 people (including the pro shooter) borrowed batteries while out shooting, and 5 borrowed memory cards when the single card they brought filled up. your mileage may vary.
I've got 2 of these, and they work great (at least on my 6d and 5dMiii) Their remote trigger is also really good.
Yes. I know I can buy light room, in fact I have. Being in the software business and seeing a lot of products switching to subscriptions, it is ,IMO, only a matter of time before adobe switches to subscriptions only. I am well aware of Linux options, I have worked with Linux for well over 20 years and currently work on a product that uses Linux. Yes I can catalog on my own using the file system, but that looses me the keyword searching of the Lightroom catalog. I pulled affinity and Corel down last night and played around with them. Corel seems to be more comparable to lr in its management of content than affinity. It will take some getting used to and I still need to try out the printing component, but it looks like a reasonable alternative
While I love lightroom adobe's subscription model ticks me off. Any suggestions for alternatives which include the catalog and organization capabilities as well as the develop functions. I have no need for photoshop at this time as I can handle all my PP activities from LR develop moduoe
I did this. First with a 6d. And then added a 5d3 I'm quite happy. I use a sigma 25 to 70 (I may be off on the low end) f2.8. And a random 70-200 f2.8. The tamron is my go to lense for most shooting
Wether you go curved or not. Spend the extra for a 4K or 5k display
They are so much better and your eyes will thank you you can get a flat of 4K for about the same price as a curved non 4K. I personally use 3 displays so going curved would be a pain. Now I just have to figur out how to get them all on my new varidesk
+1 for photomatix. While lightroom can do this natively, i prefer what photomatix does.
