probably the only negative is that the lens is advertised as 24-75mm but with a 43mm objective diameter it seems small. Panasonic has chosen to list the lens as its full frame 35mm equivilent instead of the approx 16-54mm it actually is on a 4/3rds sensor of which it only uses 12.8 mp of 16 mp. So, for a carry cam up close it works well but for shooting from the car the zoom is too short for my tastes so I have retired it to the camera case and am carrying and shooting my nikon p950 carry cam which is larger instead. It is good for things up to maybe 30 feet away or landscapes but had I known Panasonic had labeled the lens this way I would not have bought it as I often shoot from my car and this is just not enough reach. Quite a good little carry cam...essentially a Leica d-lux 7 masquerading as a Panasonic. Small but fairly mighty even for a 12.8 mp sensor out of a 17.0 mp sensor minus the unused portions. A result of leica and panasonic partnership in the early 2000's..released in 2014. Surprisingly good little general purpose easy to carry cam with single zoom lens. Full frame? No but a 4/3rds sensor with good optics and easy to control the entire camera manually. First camera in years I have had which I have not had to do any color correction to in post as a general rule. It seems so far to get the image as it existed naturally at exposure time. I bought it used with 600 images on it and am pleased so far. Here are a few images with it, early days. Just trying a different cam. I have been carrying a nikon p950 or fuji xe4 for carry cam but am trying this. I am not expecting full frame sony or nikon results which I have separately as larger cameras but something to carry with me that is easy yet still pretty fair. So far, this little devil fills the bill.

I have a sony a9 and shoot the tamron 28-70 f 2.8 and love it and now with the sony 4 adapter the tamron f 2.8 70-200. Very close to the Nikon pro lenses I shot on my D4 nikon. More than serviceable at half the price.

I like the sony a9 and have a pair of bigger zooms from 24-240 and f 3.5 and 70-300 f 4.o plus a tamron new f 2.8 28-75 which I really like. general use with the last one. I took four images with it today on a gray, drizzly, cloudy day.....below plus a few from the bigger zooms. My nikon d4 heavy dslr sports camera has now been retired to the collection cabinet. Great camera but a heavy monster.

I have the a7 I and as I understand it until much later in the series like the a7r4 model they only have one focus system instead of the two that dslr top end cameras have so shooting anything in motion or wanting rapid focus is unlikely. What I do when I need to shoot better focus on moving things is select center point focus instead of broadly across the whole sensor and continuous shooting and can manage some good images that way. However if I want moving photos I use my nikon d4 which with two focus systems is far superior at 11 fps. Up until latest models and I have not shot them I am pretty sure these are not sport photographer type cameras because of the limited focus systems built into them. I can't remember the exact name of the two systems used in top end dslrs but they can be put into the range finders if the camera makers want to. Canon and Nikon have not as far as I know in their rangefinders because it would compete with their top end dslr's which they want to harvest a while longer tho no one is buying those cameras much anymore due to cost and the feature creep upward on the rangefinders. I would like to try an a7rIV but it is out of any budget I have now as I have a suite of very workable cameras now as it is.
this is just my rough understanding of it all.

Nice shots. Question? How do you shoot dark animals moving on a light background and get definition on the animals? the dark tends to eliminate detail like overwhelming the sensor almost. I have had trouble doing this with nikon d4 shooting dog shows of borzoi when the dog is very dark in color in a well lit setting. I have to shoot indoors without flash which runs the iso way up for 1/2000th shutter speed and then the camera sets the iris to as far open as it needs. The iso can go on the full frame up over 5,000 but on a full frame that is not a bad thing. The huge contrast of dark bodies is what does it. Your photo #2 shows the same issue for the same reason but outdoors. Anyone have any ideas or techniques?

Thanks. I enjoyed the shots of the racing.

In this case it improves it substantially to crop as suggested in my opinion which is why they call it art..subjective with no right 9r wrong. I did it to a download and it much improved the core image response

I liked and downloaded the ford grill and looked at the exif data when I did as it was extremely grainy and not at all sharp which most b and w photos would be. Shot at very high iso on a camera I am not familiar with. did not save the image as it is just not clear enough or sharp enough to use which also effects the contrast which is typically one of b and w shots strengths. Good compositions but not very good camera settings for the medium in my view. Loved the composition but could use redoing with better settings on the camera

Nice idea. Most would consider taking this raw image that is centered and use the rule of thirds to crop away much of the left side and some of the bottom to show the boat off to the left which when the eye sees the image shows more balance between the other boats, the docks, the shore foliage and the shore facilities and is much more interesting to look at. It can be amazing what better cropping can do to make a photo convey more than just a simple inventory of something. Give it a thought but if you are happy with it the way it is leave it as is. Most would crop as suggested. The rule of thirds is a good way for the image to reflect what the eye sees in the best way. I like it and can see how it could be even more.

I usually ask especially if youngsters are involved. However, each state has slightly different laws. In a public place where no prohibition against photography is posted generally you may take photos of anyone or anything for your own use. However, if you take them for commercial uses you must in the vast majority of cases get the subject's permission. In terms of negative there are now many laws emerging which tackle the idea of revenge porn from former friends, etc. and they are used to justify no photos of a person without their permission. It changes all the time and the best policy is to ask even for personal non commercial use only. The hastle alone is not worth it. Good thing animals in nature don't talk too! I do not know the state of laws on drone cameras but I suspect you ought not to use them to spy and photo others either. That is a very evolving set of laws. Common sense should prevail. If you are invading privacy you ought not to without willing permission. Drones are commonly used to photo real estate listings and many other things now so the law there is evolving including how it applies to people. If I saw a drone photographing me I'd just get the shotgun and see how well they fly with a little lead in them.

As a borzoi owner I went to the show for the week and shot 6,296 images at 11 fps with my nikon D4 and 80-200 mm f 2.8 lens indoors without flash of these wonderful dogs and their owners. You must then cull many to get the few with the perfect reach and stride shown. Work!

The annual rotating around the country for geography show includes coursing and straight racing outdoors, rally, obedience, conformation, veterans, junior showmanship...the whole range and Gettysburg is delightful as a town and as a history site.

If you have an interest you may wander through the folder and the 16 galleries in the folder on my smugmug site below for those I retained. It is the biggest all Borzoi show in North America and I met people from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Estonia and several other countries and every state watching the owners, professional handlers, grooming and walking along with judging of these elegant dogs. Once a year. Next year in Albqu. New Mexico at the Marriot Pyramid hotel

The Phantom was very instrumental in Viet Nam and very versatile. It and the Thud, the single engine Thunderchief f-105 were fighter and light bomber workhorses. decent enough shot but it did not carry the punch on seeing it that I expected even downloading it and viewing full size. That plane was the epitome of punch and war for the era.

These are all adults and many got "great air" as they say in the dirt bike business. They are colorful and using my nikon D4 camera with a 70-300mm f 4 lens at 1/2500th of a second took a couple hundred photos of them. We met them all and they met my borzois who watched from inside the suv with the windows and sun roof all cracked. Lots of fun and I put them on my smugmug site and they gave me emails and I sent them links to the photos of them riding. They all enjoyed seeing themselves. Who doesn't? the bikes were anywhere from 30-75 yards away and just hand held while seated. No vr on the lens. fun morning around noonish or just before light. Pretty harsh but that's when they were there.

Nice images of Seattle. For my "art" camera I have a sony rangefinder full frame a7 that I shoot one of 8 35 year old canon fd lenses (in effect full frame since they shot 35 mm film) manually on and get some outstanding treatments of light with. I was in Colorado on the way to estes park up the canyon when a group of bighorn sheep were right there and I shot them with a nikon rangefinder p7000 from 35' away...got some good photos of them as well like your Seattle shots. All of these cameras have moments where they do well nowadays.
