Wow, rough crowd. A guy gets busy for two days and all the screws come loose. I will be carrying two bodies (D850 and Z6). 15-30, 24-70 and 70-200, plus all the necessities of laptop, chargers, etc. Yes it all fits in a 1510, but then I have to gate check it. Looking at the Mine Shift Backlight 26L, but guessing it may be too big. As for checking with the airline, yes I can do that. But they also tell you that basically only an old school lunch box fits and we all know that isn't true. Looking for info from those that have flown with similar setup and how much room they had either way.

We forget how much 911 changed things. I used to carry a camera backpack that wouldn't be allowed as carry-on today. The one time I thought I would have an issue was on a regional flight out of Chicago. They were were dropping large bags off the gangway to baggage handlers below. I said to the stewardess that I really didn't want to ... She stopped me and asked, cameras? She said they always put them in the crew's cabinet, all you have to do is ask. It was too heavy for her so I carried it forward to a locker just behind the cockpit. On the return trip I asked and again there was no issue.

Then again, maybe even today if you just ask ???

I want to know what bags have worked and which haven't. I want to be able to put it under my seat or in the overhead of the smaller regional jets. Last time I had to gate check my Pelican 1510 and that doesn't set well with me.

A very tempting lens there, twoods! Had I not just recently bought the lens below I might be tempted beyond resistance. The range of 150 to 600 would be phenomenal with my new-to-me 5D Mark III.

My intended primary lens for this ff camera is a Tamron SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD IF Macro that I’ve been using on my 60D. Would you rate your Tamron experience positively?

Not really familiar with that lens, but I've had the 70-200 f2.8 g1, 24-70 f2.8 G2 and this 150-600 G2. I've had great experiences with them all.

Cold hands trick. Get two of those tennis wrist bands and put the Hot Hands hand warmer between the band and the inside of your wrist. Keeps blood going to hands warm while staying out of the way.

High-end optic companies have found a formula to produce a high quality plastic that has very good optical quality when compared to glass. I would suspect this will be rolling out in hunting optics like anscopes and binoculars first (next 5 years probably) and eventually find its way into the camera world soon after.

I've been following the page almost daily for the last couple months. I chime in here and there, but figured it was time to introduce myself and show some of my images. I mainly shoot wildlife and the outdoor lifestyle. I aim to bring out the good points in the outdoor industry and try to bridge the gap of conservation between the common outdoorsman and those who have not been exposed to the outdoors. I am based out of western Montana, so I have the luxury of having some great country right outside my front door...literally. I am fortunate to work with a couple of different outdoor lifestyle companies and share some of my images with them. Currently, I shoot with a Canon 70D (hopefully upgrading to full frame sooner than later) paired with 16-35 f4L, 50 f1.8, 70-200 f2.8 and the new G2 Tamron 150-600. Hope I can share more images in the future. I enjoy the page. I can also be found on Instagram @twoodsimages.

Check out the Poseidon by Dark Energy. They are 9oz and 10,000 mAh. I know there are some discount codes floating around the interwebs also.

The A9 has 24 MP on a 24x36 sensor which is the same number of pixels on its APS-C sensor of the a6xxx line of mirrorless'. This means an A9 pixel covers a larger subject area. For its $4500 price wouldn't one expect a larger number of pixels. The camera has other whiz-bangs but all quality comes down to the sensor pixel count.

Larger pixels pick up more light. This is where your better low light capabilities come from.

A 2.2x battery life is an improvement, but still not great. I believe the shutter count was ~300 with the previous battery, so 600 clicks still isn't that great. I wish Canon glass could adapt more reliably to the Sony...it would make it an easier decision for me!

Curious on the common AI Servo suggestion. I too shoot a Canon 70D, currently with a Tamron G2 150-600. In AI Servo mode, my images are fairly soft. In One Shot mode, they start to gain better focus. I tried it again yesterday just to check it after reading this post and AI Servo just will not give me a solid focus. It's pretty frustrating when you get a shot and can't make it happen. I am using BBF and have a solid rest to support my lens.
