If I'm reading correctly, you can successfully apply the lens correction via an automated LR preset against the DNG returned from / provided by Topaz? It would seem this is the best of all worlds?

Yes, that is how it worked on the C-RAW file I tried.

That a nice story, but missing a lot of relevant details to make it understandable. How did you get LR to pass the file? Did you pass the original RAW, or a DNG, or a 16-bit TIFF with both your LR changes included and the ProPhotoRGB colorspace? How would we make sense of your anecdote without these relevant details?

(BTW: I now see you've deleted this anecdote ...)

Even better: did you just start with a RAW in Topaz and output the edits to a DNG? And then, when you imported that DNG into LR, could you then apply the lens profile corrections?

These are the types of technical details that make online discussion relevant and actionable. We're not there at your computer with you to ask / point to the actions taken / missing. Let us know when you've investigated what happened in the various relevant scenarios.

I realized I did an R5 file and wanted to redo using an R7 file. When I import my RAW into LR, I have a preset that runs the lens correction.(along with some other settings, some I learned from you a couple or 3 years ago). I use the recommended function of Topaz to get a RAW into Topaz from LR using Plug-in extras. My understanding that uses the unedited RAW file. When done in Photo-AI I hit the button Save to Adobe Lightroom Classic and it returns a DNG to LR next to my original RAW file. Upon import of the DNG file, it ran the instructions in my preset including running the Lens Correction. Then I continue editing the DNG.

I just recently bought an r7 and was running a few pictures through Topaz AI. The ones I took were all jpeg. I'm waiting on another sd card to arrive from adorama so I can use separate cards to store raw and jpeg, but I have a question. If I don't process the pic beforehand, and go straight to AI, does it make a difference as far as image sharpnes etc, from one or the other? In other words, will raw give me a worse outcome? I'm thinking yes but I just wanted to get some opinions from others.

Hi Pokey!
On your R7, you can write both RAW and jpg to one card, you don't have to use two different cards. Also, I have used C-RAW on my R7 with great results. You will get better results using RAW VS jpg, as Paul stated above.
Good luck on you fun learning journey.

After you look at the first few offerings when you click on firmware, I had to click load more and 1.3.1 windows was a few more down. That happened to me on a past update on R7 or R5. HTH.

That is strange. I just double checked, and the FIR file on my computer is 67835 and the fir on my sd card I had in camera and successfully installed was 67814.
1. When does the message pop up in your update attempt?
2. Which slot do you have the sd card in camera? Maybe try other slot?
