What?

Not to diminish the spectacular results that I have gotten over the years from my Leica Q, Sony A9, Nikon D500, none of those would do well for concealing their presence while shooting a documentary. It may be heresy on my part, but reality is reality and we must confront it and benefit from it. Our beloved camera manufacturers have yet to respond to the smartphone onslaught.

Don’t overlook a smartphone with high quality camera. I like the iPhone 13.

Great shot.
Did you use a tripod?
Please share your settings.
What lens did you use?

Great background blur in images 2-9. How wide was your Apertutre? What lens did you use?

1) I use the Apple “dongle” into which I slip my memory card and then insert that into the lightening port of the iPad. The images upload automatically into Photos. (On the new iPad Pro I am told it can go right into LR CC).

b) i prefer the Adobe cloud which comes with LR CC.

As to storing and organizing photos on iCloud, I’d rather go with LR CC.

I have opted in favor of editing my images on my iPad Pro, but doing more advanced touch ups and storing in LR CC. To me, the portability and easier organization system of LR CC far outweighs what I have found to be the obsolete and frequently quirky LR Classic catalogue system housed on external hard drives that most pros are stuck on. The latest version of the iPad Pro allows you to upload directly to LR CC thus bypassing Apple’s own post processing software called Photos (which is very good and getting better, but not yet as advanced as LR CC.) Bottom line, you got to believe in the cloud and be prepared to abandon doing it the old fashioned way. I did. No regrets. Yet.

The confusing LR Classic catalogue system can be eliminated entirely and a much simpler user friendly system of organization of Your photos can be had by just moving over to LR CC. Overall, I like CC alot better than Classic. You just got to be willing to make the leap to the cloud. Has made organizing my 65,000 images much simpler.

I used MacBook Pro for several years but then switched to the iPad Pro. I like the tablet best for its clarity, colors and portability. It comes with Photos, Apple’s native editing software which is very good for most basic editing. But I also use LR CC. I no longer use LR Classic on the Mac Book Pro.
I would definitely recommend the iPad Pro

Take another look at that photo in the glossy mag. I bet it was an awesome location, in a perfect light, at the right time of year to be there, and the photographer made sure the composition was spot on. He or she also did a lot of research (or just got plain lucky) to determine that was the time and location to photograph. Photoshop can not produce silk purses from sows' ears. The raw material is still important to the resulting product.

OMG. Where in the world are the optimists among us? Maybe you old farts need a good GAS attack to give you some new toys to make you happy again.

I have seen several in posts and comments, that many of you have or use an iPad for processing. I am interested to know which programs your using. I have installed Affinity which is fine. However, seems daunting to me. Adobe for some reason keeps stalling IMOP. Thanks in advance for any help or tips you might have.

With my iPad pro, I import into Photos, do some preliminary edits there. ( It is included in the iPad software free of charge. It has gotten to be very good.) From Photos, I will import “keepers” into Lightroom CC where I can store, further edit, organize and share.
