It goes to show, in photography, there are always options. When one door closes, another one opens.

I post my photos on Flickr and I put them in Creative common License with Attribution. If you google my moinker photogirl7.1, you will see many, many websites that do use my photos and I see my name attributed to the photo. Have there been others who do not? I presume there are, but for the most part, people do attribute the photo to me.

I post my photos on Flickr and Youpic. I am not a professional but if you want to see my body of work that is where I am. I have been used a lot on websites as my photos are in the creative common license attribution. I have been paid twice for photos to be used in text books for college. If I do decide to use them for profit, I have at least a body of work that I can boast of. It all depends on how you want to use your photos professionally.

I lived in Tucson, AZ for fifteen years off and on. Over the years I have come to love the desert for its diversity of cactus, animals and terrain. Over the years, I have experienced a few run ins with the cactus and they came out as painful and itchy experiences. But, that aside, the desert if you look hard enough has a lot to offer in the way of experiences and photo opportunities.

The title caught my attention and it is a beautiful photo of a beautiful dog. You are right there are many shades of gray but, I am looking at the dog and would love to take him home.

I gave a mounted and framed photograph to a co-worker that I took of her husband with 2 of their great grand-kids when they were visiting a few months ago. I do candid portraits of my own grand-kids & have gotten pretty good at it after a lot of trial and error and practice. She loved it and I'm sure she meant no disrespect when she said "that must be a really good camera". Bet I'm not the only one who has been on the recieving end of a 'complement' like this! :) :)

I have been told that over the years and I do accept the compliment in the vein it was intended, and when the devil's stick prods my behind, I go into detail the glowing way my camera takes good pictures. I doubt that is what they wanted to hear. A lot of questions I get is: Did you take any good pictures?" I will let that be another post as to how I answer that one.

Isn't serendipity fun? I have a few examples here on UHH of a bee that was on a flower I was hoping to capture. The bee flew away and I thought I had ruined the shot only to find out on the download, it had been captured clearly in flight. I have a few examples but it is the randomness that makes the photo experience memorable.

When saving a photo as a JPEG use the "save as" option in the file. You have the option to save it as a high resolution print (12) or a lower resolution print (down to 0 or 1). This is the second page of the "save as" process. I save in the high and low resolution formats if I plan to post to the internet.

I do exactly the same thing with all my photos. Printing my photos on 4x6 or 5x7 I need smalller files to make the printer print faster. Also, it makes it easier to post on the internet.

I don't have much confidence in used, but I do have total confidence in factory refurbished cameras and lenses. When I'm looking to buy more gear I always look to see if refurbished is available.

My very first digital camera in 2005 was a used Olympus 3.2 MP point and shoot. I bought that camera for $75.00. For a used camera, it took fantastic photos. It lasted for 5 years before it gave up the ghost. but that was thousands of photos later. I have bought new since then, but I am not adverse to refurbished or used.

Thank you for answering my first question. Since you didn't answer the second, I can assume one of three possible scenarios: a. you didn't read the subsequent questions or you decided it's not worth your time to (which is okay, as that is your prerogative); b. all the traveling that you do is by automobile so there's no need to be concerned with much photo equipment you bring along; or c. when you do travel by plane, train, or bus, you bring only one camera along.

I do not do that much travelling. The last big trip I took was from California to Washington state in 2004. I live in the south sound and I make trips to Seattle occasionally. My last plane trip was in 2004 and given plane travel is more pain than pleasure, I do not miss flying at all. My last train trip was... 2001? If I travel at all it is by car or by ferry, which in the Washington state system is pretty impressive. If you should want to visit, the ferry system goes to some of the most beautiful places here in Washington state.

That's a lot of point and shoot cameras you have. You must have a remarkable memory to deal with the format menus on the LCD of all those cameras. Unless you have them all set on automatic.

I have had to use the different cameras a lot and so it becomes automatic and I get to know the features by heart by now. I do use automatic but I use the manual features a lot too. I used to have and SLR since 1978 and I had to know how to use f stops, aperture, depth of field etc. I even did my own black and white developing film. Digital allowed me to focus on the photo and not the cost of printing the photos and developing the film, which was getting costly. Again, it depends on the situation a weatherproof camera does give me a sense of confidence in inclement weather.
