Thank you for your comments, they are most welcomed.
Thank you, I am sure we will be there also.
Thank you for your rapid response. Yosemite or Yellowstone?
Thank you for your reply. I enjoy your work very much.
To those with experience at Yellowstone, we are considering a May trip to Yellowstone. What is your thought about a best time visit to avoid road closures and facilities are open. Would like to photograph the park in its spring beauty however we could wait until September
Very nice, I enjoy the waterfalls in western NC. Is this in the area?
Thank you for your post and calling to the WW museum. Time will be well spent there if you are in the New Orleans area
Do not despair, many of us have been deceived in first efforts in photographing the moon. One thing you could do is do an online search on "helpful hints on photographing the moon". There are several and most are simple and straightforward. These will help you understand the need for and suggestions for proper camera support, the correct camera settings and the need for a good location from which to shoot. The other thing I would suggest is to go out and practice before the time for the special moon.
Thank you for posting a reminder of this important event.
As has been suggested by others, if you are looking to spend some time shooting waterfalls the Brevard/Highlands/Asheville area offers several good opportunities. Dry Falls near Highlands is one of my favorites. Have a wonderful trip, the area you have chosen is very special.
Great shots, thank you for posting. I enjoy Dauphin Island. I hope to be there with my D 7200 and the same lens in mid September.
James, thank you for the reminder. Our grand daughters were in to eventing and competed there several times over the years. Lot of happy memories.
When you have made your choice, if possible rent and take it for a "test drive". Then you will know if this IS the camera for me.
If you are interested in waterfalls the area of NC you will be traveling has several nice ones. Just search North Carolina waterfalls if you are interested. Several like Dry Falls are easily accessible
If you are traveling from the west one thing to consider is the Piegon Forge/Gatlinburg area can get pretty congested at times especially in the fall. An alternate route and a very pleasant one is to enter the park from Townsend, Tn following the Lamar Alexander Parkway/Little River Road to Hgw 441 which is the road to Clingmans Dome/Newfound Gap/Cherokee that others have mentioned. You can pick up the parkway at Cherokee. Enjoy!
