Thank you all for your input on this. I believe there is a local photo shop that I can rent the lens from. I will do that and compare to see if it is worth pursuing further. I have multiple lenses that cover the range from 18 all the way to 500. But do to the busy schedule the travel agent has put together, trying to limit any lens changes and carrying extra equipment.
Again I appreciate everyone's input on this conversation.
Thank you.

I have a question for anyone who has used both mentioned lenses. I am planning a trip next year to Ireland and Scotland and am looking to carry only necessary equipment. I have a Nikon 18-105 that I use on my D5500. I am thinking about the extra reach of the 18-140 for the landscape.
Has anyone used both lenses and what is your opinion of each.
I just read some bad reviews on lens creep on the 18-200 and 18-300 Nikkor lenses so those are out of the running. The 18-140 had good reviews. I was just wondering if it was worth trading in my 18-105 for the 18-140.
Thank you in advance for your honest opinions.

I am using the Vello Freewave Fusion. I bought it at B&H Photo. Works well with my Nikon D5500 and Sunpak 555 and Sunpak 26SR.

I have the D5500 and like the ratating touch screen. I just purchased the Nikon 200-500 5.6 and the work great together.
I do landscapes and wildlife, and of course grandkids.
I'm not a professional, but have dabbled in photography since 1970's.

Has any of the group had experience with the Bemyar gimbal head? I saw the. On face book and advertising it for $69.99 normally $175.00.
I just purchased the AF Nikon 200-500 lens and was thinking about this to replace my standard head on my tripod.
Thank you for any comments.

Not sure where in NC you are, but there is a camera shop I use in Charlotte, Biggs Camera. They are a Nikon dealer and may be able to look at it for you.

I have the D5500 and find it is a great camera for what I do, lands ape, birds, my dog and family. My main lens is an 18- 105 Nikor. I also have the 55 -300 good for birding.
One day I would like to get a 200 - 500 for more range with the birds.

I just bought a Vello Freeware Fusion Basic for my Nikon 5500. The kit had a receiver and transmitter for $28.00. Got it from B&H.
Have not had a chance to use it, looking for another cable to work with my Sunpak 555 flash.

I will add, find out who is going to service the unit. When I was at Generac we had electrical contractors that would install these units from Home Depot and Lowes, but they were not qualified to work on or do repairs. I had many customer calls about this. We would go and service, but until they found us via online or word of mouth, they didn't know who to call.
Just my words of caution before you buy any home standby generator.

Generators that are gasoline e powered are portables. These can be used to power your home, but you are more limited on what you can run and you have to drag out and run when it is needed..

Most home standby generators are natural gas or propane. If you do not have aNY natural gas lines running on your street you would need to install a propane tank on your property. The home standby generators also have a transfer switch installed between the utility meter and main panel. This provides automatic starting of the generator and a timer for weekly exercising. An electrician experienced with home standbys or the generator manufacturers rep would be required to help size the proper generator for the size of your home and what you need to run during an outage.
