Really nice. You gave me some inspiration for my flowers and boring sky backgrounds!
Wow. Beautiful. I love Poppies and did't realize we had a Poppy Preserve!
I was there in 2015 in an RV for a week. There is a public campground on the water in town which is nice. We went salmon fishing and sent home 22 lbs of dressed fish. If you like to fish - go out on a boat. We saw whales, puffins, and other wildlife just from the fishing trip. We also did a sunset dinner cruise to an island that also included looking for sea life. Again we saw whales, puffins, etc. There is the Bear Glacier with trips to it (
http://www.alaska.org/detail/bear-glacier. ) Exit Glacier is in Seward and you can easily walk and see it at the bottom, but if able to hike - the hike (strenuous) is beautiful and you can hike up above it and all the way up to see the Harding Ice field. There are bears (so be prepared if hiking). They have ranger led hikes up there too. One last mention is the marine life center in Seward is well worth the time. You can see marine life up close and good for photography - especially the birds which are out in the open and easily to take pictures of.
Enjoy the trip - one of my most favorite places.
Several months back I decided I wanted to learn how to use ND filters and after researching I purchased from Breakthrough Photography. I purchased through Amazon, however you can also purchase direct. The filters are high quality have worked well and I will purchase my next one from them. Their site has good information and they are made in the USA.

Thanks for the help and advice. I was already leaning towards the Spyder Pro5 before I asked for help and everyone has just cemented what already thought. Thanks again.
Thanks for the input, I was leaning towards the Spyder product to start with and appreciate your response and recommendation.
I finally made the plunge and purchased a BENQ 3200PT monitor to use as an extended monitor with my MacBook Pro for editing in Lightroom (mostly) and I'm learning Photoshop. The monitor is scaled at 2560x1440 and has 2 color profiles - HD 709-A and SD 170M-A. It is standard set at the HD 709. It includes an internal color calibration setup. Looking for input on calibrating internally or should just purchase an external one. The monitor is beautiful out of the box to the eye but I want to print my work and have it look great. This is new territory for me so any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.
I also looked up the display profile for HD709 and SD 170M and probably just confused myself more but it seems like the HD 709 is at least the one to leave as is for now.
I was 8 years old in 1963 and got a Kodak Brownie little film camera. Ironically, I had just pulled out my photo album from then a few days ago to prove to my husband (not that I needed to ) that I must have had photography genes way back then too. I've always been interested but really passionate in the past ten years or so now that I'm not raising young kids.
Love the pictures. Still hoping to get up there before the color is gone. We spend a good deal of time hiking the Sierras every year.
Love the pictures. Brings back great memories of my trip last summer spending about 3 months traveling Alaska. I'm still sorting through the 6000 pics I took over my total 8 month trip! Denali pic is my favorite of your group.
Thanks for sharing.
Love your list. Gives me additional food for thought. I just finished 7 1/2 months traveling in RV with hubby from So. Cal to Alaska and back via Michigan and lower states. Spent 3 month in Alaska and now still reviewing the 6000 pics I have kept. (still deleting and editing). I had 3 cameras plus assorted gear. Its hard to delete though!
Thanks for the quick and obvious solution. I was grabbing from the gray border. Problem solved.
I can create collections in Lightroom 5 initially by selecting a batch of photos, but can't drag photos from the library grid to add to collection after that. I have looked at tutorials, etc but so far can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Any help is appreciated. My software is up to date.
Actually, I just saw in the thread where you were. It is still too light here in Alaska I think to look for them. Maybe when I get to Fairbanks in August or so.
