Check out one of the Lens taxis made by ThinkTank. Or other products from this company.

Thanks for the input!

My favorite long lens bag is the Think Tank Lens limo. Will transport that 400 with a pro body attached. The lens taxi is good as well, but NOT designed to transport such a large lens with a pro body. I used the Limo for both my former 400/2.8 and current Z version with the TC built-in. Best of luck.

Thanks! That sounds perfect! I'll check it out...

For my Nikkor 400 2.8 and 800 5.6 I normally just use the soft lens hoods that come with them. These lenses are tough items.

The cases are good if you have to travel with or ship them.

Thanks! I'll likely also use it to travel and don't want to use the "trunk"

You might check out one of the sizes of these on Amazon:

I just bought the 'XXXXXL' size for my new Nikkor 180-600mm lens. Nikon was nice enough to include a cloth to wrap the lens, but I was looking for something a little more substantial. This works great for me.

Thanks, I'll check it out!

Am looking for a soft lens case for my "new" Nikon 400mm f2.8G lens. It came with the trunk, but I'd like something that would work better for taking it to sporting events, etc. Thanks for any input/recommendations!

For me, I feel that with all the money I spent on the camera, why go cheap with 3rd party batteries.

Jules, I'm experiencing the same issue with my D500... Am mostly using my Z6ii that I did not buy for sports! But it is doing much better than my D500. I can't go back to my D750 with its small focus area (I think I am spoiled with mirrorless). So, selling my D750 and D500 for a Z9!

One data point... I sent in my D750 for a dreaded "ERR" message. Mailed it 13 June and just received it back, yesterday, 3 July. I checked status everyday via their website... They did much more than I expected and I am very pleased with what they did. Good luck with your D5300!

If you have to get rid of one, keep the 18-200. It is a good lens.

No pill for GAS. If there were, I would not take them. Life is short.
