i just flew from Philadelphia to Aruba and back. Had to take camera out of backpack & put in separate Bin as they consider it an electronic item. 3 lenses stayed in pack. Tripod was left strapped to backpack. Backpack was actually 2” taller then max carryon size but still fit into overhead. When I travel like this I usually pay extra fee for priority boarding to assure getting overhead space. I did not go through TSA Pre since wife was traveling with me.

Using progressive bifocals I normally take them off when looking through the viewfinder. I have also found that when using the glasses I miss detailed settings in the viewfinder and my composition is not as good.

I just was faced with the same decision. On the end, I opted for portability and went with MacBook Pro with 32gb RAM & 512gb SSD (I use an SSD RAID), then upgraded to a 4K 27” monitor. Spent about $800 more than comprarable IMAC. Wife has the new mini and she is very pleased with it (does not do any video editing).

This is the result of the US Supreme Court ruling. It is now up to each individual state to determie and put into place tax laws that we allow them to collect (force) internet business to collect/remit sales tax for their sales into that state. NJ governor just signed this law but does not go into affect for at least 60-90 days.

Try browsing Mindshift https://www.mindshiftgear.com/
I have the 180 but they do make larger bags.

Is the Nikon battery grip, model MB D17 worth the $400 +/- cost, or will the less than $100 varieties (i.e. Vivitar, Neewer, etc.) work just as well? Have any UHHers used one or the other or both? Please share your thoughs. Thanks!

I have been using the Newer grip on my D7100 and it functions fine. There is a definitive build quality difference from the Nikon, but for my purposes the value of the Newer was best.

I have abandoned neck straps. Too much pressure on neck/back with D7100. Used Black Rapid for a few years and just recently switched to Peak Design using both the sling and wrist clutch. After several months I find my self using the wrist strap significantly more than the sling. That being said the sling is extremely easy to adjust length while in use!

Use Black Rapid sport but have removed the under arm strap when on long hikes. For my street walking I switch to a Black Rapid wrist strap. Works well on D7100 w/battery grip.

I upgraded from the D5100 to a refurb D7100 about 3 months ago. Looked very closely at the D7200 but the $$ savings from the refurb to the new D7200 went toward a new lens. Very pleased with my decision!

Is the D7200 worth the extra money for the casual photographer?

I discovered that a couple of years ago. I do find the magazine very useful even with it's higher cost. I have since only subscribe to the digital edition which is $59.99 (US) + tax and mostly read it through the iPad. If there are specific articles I want to pull out, I use a capture software to pull them as a PDF.

Before you subscribe to N-Photo though myfavoritemagazines be aware that not all the goodies portrayed in their advertising may be available to US subscribers. First of all I like N-Photo and responded to a December promotion advertising goodies with a membership plus subscription to include either a lowpro camera bag or monopod, depending upon which offer your responded to. The one I subscribed to offered the lowepro camera bag, one year subscription, magazine binder, digital edition access and other goodies. It was expensive ($180.00 reg $215,00) but with everything they offered I though it was ok. I was wrong.

After I subscribed, they sent me my account log on and once on, I found out the digital edition was not available for PC. Mac, I-Pad and Android only. First disappointment. In February I finally received my first magazine. Love the magazine. No goodies yet so I contacted customer service as to when I was going to receive the lowepro camera bag. I got an email back stating that promo was available only to UK subscriptions - no goodies. I emailed them back expressing my displeasure asking them to revert my subscription to regular and refund the difference from the plus membership. Have not heard back.

Just want to warn anyone subscribing to N-Photo, be sure to ask what specifically is included and what is not. Two issues are disturbing. Digital issues do not include PC versions and not all items in the promo are available to US subscribers.

Has anyone else experience a problem like I have?
