I have been a member on UHH for quite a while now, but mostly lurk in the background, learning from very talented photographers. I have never gotten the nerve to post any of my photography, but maybe someday. I am very active on a site called AstroMart which is geared towards astronomical equipment and I have hundreds of 5-star ratings on that site. I think that this outfit would be more interesting to a photography group, especially wildlife photographers.

I originally had plans to begin digiscoping, but life got in the way and this outfit needs to find a home where it will be used.

This is a like new Swarovski 85mm STX scope with the straight thru ocular with a 25x-60x zoom range. This scope has excellent long eye relief, (20mm) and a nice flat field. You can check out all the specs in more detail on the Swarovski website. I am the second owner. The original owner purchased this directly from Eagle Optics. The lifetime warranty is transferable. It includes all original accessories.

Included in this outfit:
(Current pricing in parentheses)

Pelican 1520 Case - new (235)
Swarovski 85mm Lens Module (2032)
Swarovski 25x-60x Eyepiece Module (2899)
Swarovski Balance Rail (259)
Swarovski Window Mount (70)
Swarovski Padded Case (169 + 189)
Swarovski TLS APO for Digiscoping (has a Canon t-ring, but that is easily changed)  (732)

Total cost, new, exceeds $6500.  My price is $4499. CONUS sale only. This outfit will be shipped in the Pelican case and then packed into another box.  It will be shipped second day air with full insurance.  I want to sell this as a complete set.  It is ready to go for enjoyable viewing and digiscoping! It is the Rolls Royce of spotting scopes as anyone who is familiar with Swarovski knows!

Shipping/insurance and payment (i.e. PayPal) fees will be at the buyer's expense. A personal check is acceptable, but it must clear prior to shipment. This is a CONUS sale only.

It has been stored in a climate controlled environment with no pets and no smoking. Depending upon where the buyer is located, I may consider negotiating shipping charges.

Feel free to ask questions.

Thank you for looking!

I got up at 3:AM to get a shot of Jupiter while it was transiting and the seeing was good to moderate. This image came out a bit cleaner than the previous one, however no moons were in the field of view nor was the red spot aimed our way as in the previous image. As before I used the UV filter for the Luminance channel along with the standard Red, Green and Blue filters. All comments and suggestions are welcome.

Awesome images Ballard!! Would you please tell us what equipment and processes you used to capture these?

With each new DIGIC processor generation, Canon changes how / if the shutter count is stored internal to the camera such that a third-party app can access and display that information. I believe most of your EOS models are supported by this freeware: EOS Digital Info

I use it for my EOS 5DIII (DIGIC 5+) using Windows machines connected to the camera via the USB. Anyone that tells you they can obtain via the JPEG is showing their lack of technical knowledge of recent EOS technology.

Thank you, chg_canon! I downloaded that app and tried it out on six (6) different Canon cameras. Here are the results:

Successful: Rebel T5i, 60Da, 5D Mark II, 1DX Mark I
Unsuccessful: Rebel T7i & 5D Mark IV

That's 4 more results than I had been able to achieve before! It appears that the "newer" models store this information in a different manner.

As big-guy suggests in the following post, I downloaded freeshuttercount and attempted to run it against the 5D Mark IV and Rebel T7i, both again unsuccessfully. HOWEVER, freeshuttercounter DID recognize the 5D Mark IV, but said I needed to update the firmware before it would work. So, I will do that and try again on both apps.

Thank you both very, very much for chiming in. I appreciate your help!

I have been searching in vain for a shutter count app for Windows (I have Windows 10 OS) that will provide a shutter count on a 5D Mark II, 5D Mark IV, 1DX Mark I and Rebel T7i. There are a couple of seemingly great apps for Mac users, but there are a lot of defunct/shady links when I search for Windows apps. There HAS to be something out there for accomplishing this! I searched UHH, but found nothing relevant. EOS Info....nope, EOS Count...nope (doesn't cover all of these cameras), Shutter Count..nope and the list goes on. I would like to sell a couple of Canon bodies, but the first question a prospective buyer wants to know is the shutter count. I don't mind paying for an app, but I need it to do what I need it to do! Any words of wisdom out there? I know this has been discussed on UHH before, but I was not able to locate a useful link.

I ordered this battery for my 95 year old father a while back. Two months later he tells me that it is the wrong battery, so I am unable to return it. It was purchased new from B&H for about $50 and is a genuine Canon battery.

I want to pass it along to someone who can use it. Right now it is an expensive paperweight taking up space in my office, never to be used. There is no packaging or anything else, just a battery. It is 7.2V, 1040mAh (Li-ion). I will even ship it for free to the first person who PMs me that they can use it (CONUS ONLY). You will receive a brown bubble pack envelope with one battery in it. If for any reason you are dissatisfied with your "purchase" I will cheerfully refund what you paid for it. :)

According to what I looked up, the following EOS cameras use this particular battery pack:
(I know for a fact it does NOT fit an EOS T7i LOL)

EOS 750D
EOS 760D
EOS 77D
EOS 800D
EOS 850D
EOS 200D
EOS 250D

If you have a camera that does use it, you are going to know this already.

I have been a member on this forum for quite a long time but rarely post. I read postings every day and am in awe of the knowledge, expertise and willingness to assist others, so in a minor way I want to pay it forward.

Have noticed some interesting prices for used long lenses being posted: www.ebay.com/str/montereypark
They have a 100% favorable rating on eBay. Any input from pro level buyers is appreciated.

I purchased a Canon 600mm L f/4 IS (Version 1) from them a couple of years ago. It was shipped quickly, packed like a tank and everything they said it was. I still use this lens on a gimbal head for wildlife & birds. It certainly attracts a lot of attention when I am out using it!! They carry many larger lenses for Canon, Nikon and others. Their available stock varies. I would certainly purcase from them again!

That is no longer true. The Supreme Court ruling affects ALL online retailers. I received a similar notice from B&H yesterday. They will start collecting state sales taxes beginning today:

I have the Starsense camera but I do not have the cable that connects it to the scope.
I need to have someone take a picture of the two ends of the cable side by side with the click tabs facing up and I can make a cable for it.
I cannot find the pinout for the cable anywhere and this is the easiest way to get one fabricated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim,

I pulled out the cable from my Celestron StarSense camera and took a look. It is a 6-pin connector, not an 8-pin like you show in your image. Held at the orientation the picture shows, here is how mine is pinned out: BLUE (1) Yellow (2) Green (3) Red (4) Brown (5) White (6). Both ends are the same (no crossovers). Just to be clear, this is the cable going from the back of the StarSense camera mounted on the telescope to the mount. Perhaps if you are using this with a different setup than mine there would be 8 pins? I use this on a Celestron 8 SE outfit. Hope this helps! Otherwise, I have contacted Celestron in the past for assistance and they have been very helpful. YMMV

Clear Skies,
Steve

Wow! Perfect! Would you consider downloading your edited image so I can print one? My wife wants a copy of this matted and framed in our bathroom (which is where most of my photos belong! :) ) If not, I understand. Did you use PhotoShop for this?

Thank you Rich1939!

For what it’s worth, I’d leave it there. I think it lends itself to the image, but we each see things differently.

That is definitely one approach worth considering. I could possibly tone it down a bit to make it less obvious and distracting. Thank you!

Not with Lightroom, it is not designed for this type of correction. One of the easiest programs is Snapheal by MacPhun/Skylum but I don't know if they have a PC version yet. If you know Photoshop you could do the correction in that. There are many other programs, too. In any case, it's a matter of learning the software.

I took a look at Snapheal. It looks like a handy tool, but I cannot seem to find out if it is available as a plugin for LightRoom 6.1.1 native running on my computer (non-CC). They mention this ability for CC, though.

Thank you for your reply, via the lens!

Lightroom will yield undesirable results in this effort. A careful selection in PS, then using content-aware fill would likely do the job.

Thank you for the reply brucewells. I do not have PhotoShop and wouldn't know how to use it if I did! Maybe someone else can take a stab at it. Nothing in LightRoom seems to be practical for this edit.

I am not a "Photoshopper" so large object removal is not easy for me. I use LightRoom and can work my way around it fairly well, but removing the background leaf in the water in this image is proving to be a challenge for me. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could accomplish this removal? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have! Sorry...the title should say LEAF, not leave....

What shade of welding glass is safe to use so that you don't ruin your camera while filming the solar eclipse. I was able to get my hands on shade 10 but I am hearing I need shade 12 or the equivalent thereof does anybody have any experience in this?

#14 and a #14 only for the utmost safety in UV and IR filtering. I know that there have been sites saying shades 12-14, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I have been an avid solar astronomer and imager for over 40 years, using many different solar observing methods. It is my opinion that anything under a shade of #14 does not sufficiently filter out the UV and IR. Please do not confuse "dark" with "safe". Please be safe out there on Monday. Your eyes are the most precious instruments you have ever owned.
