I travel all over the world constantly. I have a Think Tank rolling bag, but my favorite bag for rugged and durable use is absolutely the Pelican Air. It has fallen from the back of a van, been on many boats, tipped over and you name it. As I was horrified, everything stayed perfectly safe. It fits into the overhead bin, even on smaller carriers. I have been to Myanmar 5 times and fly on Air KBZ and it fits. I have two bodies and carry 5 lens and everything else. I love that bag.
In Mumbai the worlds largest outdoor laundry is awesome for photography. I just photographed it a couple of months ago. I would recommend that you get someone to take you there. Amish at Mumbai Moments can arrange for you get in. Worth every minute.
I was just in Myanmar in May/June of this year. I felt perfectly safe. We went to Yangon, Bagan, Kanpetlet, Loikow, Inle Lake and Mandalay just to name a few. I am going back this November. I loved it there. Yes, there are problems near the Bangladesh border. I traveled with a guide and a driver. I never felt uncomfortable in Myanmar. I travel and work in that part of the world all of the time.
The Camel Fair does move south. I cannot remember the name of the town. You can check the internet (Pushkar Camel Fair) as to the schedule. The fair does terminate on the 15th of November with the holy bathing in the lake. I am going in the opposite direction to Jaisalmer where the Thar Desert, sand dunes, camels and silhouettes, sunsets and all of that. Enjoy your trip.
Interesting. I too am going to India shortly and specifically to the Pushkar Camel Fair and other points (I will be in India for 3 1/2 weeks). Are you aware of the Camel Fair? It is very famous and will be going on for about a week and commencing on the 15 of November.
I was there about 5 years ago. It was well worth getting the visa. At that time, you could only take the helicopters from the Brazil side. Things may have changed since I visited. A helicopter ride is also worth the investment. I would not want to go that distance and leave Iguassu feeling like I missed something. The hotel inside the park is also worth booking. Hope you bring lots of mosquito repellant, they are abundant down there. Enjoy your trip it is beautiful.
Just a suggestion. I did pay full price for the Think Tank and would do it again. My bag has stood up to countless flights, trains, thrown in back of vans and anything else you could imagine. It is getting ready to go back to Southeast Asia for another assignment for a month and a half. It will have to endure many flights and modes of transportation, once again. Good luck on your search.
I am a retired flight attendant for a major airline. When I started working in Asia my first thought was how to constantly fly with all my camera gear and knowing all the problems with carry on luggage. The Think Tank Airstream was the perfect answer. It fits easily 2 camera bodies and all my necessary lens. It fits into the overhead bins and under a seat. I have never had any problems with any airline domestically or international. I would recommend that you purchase the shorter dividers, it will give you more room on the top. That bag has logged many, many miles all over the world. The only time I would change is to buy a new one when my current one wears out.
Beautiful image! Well deserved.
They were so happy together and in their mid 90's...we should all be that happy.
