at age 77 i found that the first two fingers of my right hand are numb. my solution, a $14.00 L bracket and a wired remote. I taped the remote to the L bracket and operate it with my left thumb.

the term "getting it right in the camera" really doesn't mean anything. it's about getting it the way the photographer wants it. in the film days many pros and deep pocket amateurs used labs that knew any special methods they preferred in the prosessing of their film and the printing of their images. if "getting it right in the camera" was the end all be all, we wouldn't need hi-end editors.

i started out with an el cheapo 500mm f8 reflex lens, with careful work i got some pretty good images.
switched to the sony 500mm f8 auto focus reflex lens and opened up a whole new world. the auto focus is fast enough for most situations. shooting in most daylight situations with the iso at 400 i get sharp images hand held. adjusting the in camera contrast control covers that problem. it's a shame that only minolta developed it and sony discontinued it. I would love to see a new and improved model. I spent a day at the zoo taking over 100 images, I got what I consider some really good shots.

how about my pet peeve. it pisses me off that hot dogs come in packages of 10, but hot dogbuns come in packages of 8.

K.I.S. i put all my photos on a external drive. i plug it in and turn on picasa, it finds them.
i can right click on a folder of photos and pick picasa to process them.

when everything we use is made over seas , the working class job left won't pay squat.

never never never when i pay for something, i want to own it. the folks a photoshop are like dentist, once they get in you pocket they are there forever.

if you do mostly low light shooting then f 1.4 is necessary. i am only guessing but, f4.5 - f11 would give better results, for 10am to 6pm landscapes.

i have 1 or 3 fd lenses that i use on my sony slt a77. great results when i use a mono-pod. i use them mostly for fun.
