Correction: Zfc with a full frame zoom 24-200 6.3.
Am I wasting the extra expense of an f lens on a d mirrorless? Shall I trade for a similar semi-tele zoom in d format?
Landscapes and sunsets are targets for me.
I use the d type kit lens 18-50 3.5 for dinner parties and general use (extremely light to carry around at parties and cruise ships)

Technically you're correct, the Nikon Zf is only available in black, but the Nikon Zfc is the same camera in chrome, and in fact, was introduced first, I guess to help reinforce that 'retro-look'. Note that the last chrome camera I had was a Minolta XG-M which I bought in 1982.

The Zfc and Zf are totally different. Full frame vs d.
I have a Zfc and it substantially outperforms the D500.
Mirrorless is our future.
If the Zf ever comes in chrome, I will buy it in a minute.
Thx.

I just traded a D500 for a mirrorless. I think that is the future for DSLR. Also, half the weight.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.
(Typo - my full frame lens is is 24-200.)
Clarification ....... my question was "am I wasting utilization of a FF lens on a non FF body?" Shall I trade up to a Zf body or down to a non-FF lens?
btw, by regular I meant non FF. I have not owned a prime lens for several years. As an amateur protographer, I need the flexibility.
Also, I was surprised to see comments about how it was better to use a wide-angle lens on sunsets. I have always used a semi-tele for this. Going all the way back to my Nikon Ftn film body 55 yrs ago.
btw, I have a polar filter on the 24-200, use s needed.
Thanks.

I have the Zfc with a 18-200 4.5 zoom. I like taking sunsets and landscapes.
Some tell me I have wasted money by not just having a regular lens. Advantage of full frame not being utilized.
Updating to Zf not good for me .... do not wish to carry two bodies. The Zfc is quite light.
I also have the kit lens 14-50 4.0 for dinner parties .... very lightweight.
The store says I am good.
Thanks, everyone.

Hi! We are going to the Galápagos Islands in May and I would rather not carry my Canon 5D MarkIII and lenses. Especially because we’ll be snorkeling and on a boat. I’m looking for a good compact camera possibly waterproof but not a deal breaker. I would love to hear about small cameras you have used for your adventures.
And any Galopogos photo advice would be awesome!

I just spent another small fortune on another lens - a Nikon Z 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens (my cameras are a Z6ii and a Z7ii). Uses a 77 mm filter size. I was looking for filters and I see them priced all over the map - from USD $7-ish up to about $50. I have always thought UV filters were primarily to protect the lens - I really don’t know that they do anything else. But does anybody have any idea how to determine if the more expensive ones are worth the additional money. What do you get for a more expensive one?

I was looking for a pocket travel camera for when I don’t want to travel with my DSLR. I spent some time looking and went to a camera store to look and feel. They seemed small in my hand. I couldn’t decide and realized the technology was in most cases 5 years old. Then I read a post on UHH about the snapgrip about the same time as the iPhone 15 came on the radar. As one prominent photographer said consider it a camera that also makes phone calls. I took it on a cruise with some port visits. I couldn’t be happier with the decision.

There are so many choices for pocket cameras that are excellent, especially Sony, I can't imagine that a phone with a lens half the size of a pea can be acceptable. Frankly, especially an Apple. I recently sold my Nikon D500 trading for a mirrorless Zfc and am very happy. I keep my Leica DLux4 pocket compact for dinner parties. The issue is simple; as for travel, you need a DSLR for landscapes and sunsets, if you wish to print. Otherwise, a pocket cam taking snapshots to send pics to the grandkids works quite well.

Final comment to "image"
Thanks. I will use polarizer indoors whenever reflections are present. You comments are appreciated.

Thanks everyone for all your valuable responses.
As a result, I have purchased a NC filter for my 67mm nikkor zoom lens for protection and will use my polarizer only as necessary for outdoor. Your counsel has been very worthwhile.

Suggestion:
If you are really a serious photographer, or even a serious amateur, why in the world would you take photos on an iPhone and want to save them? Just fwd your "snapshots" from the phone to the grandkids and use your real camera for serious stuff.
Do you own a camera? If not, there are many "shirtpocket" compact quality cameras available that would produce considerably better results than an iPhone.

I have a new Zfc with a 24-200 full frame zoom. I have been keeping the polarizing filter on, however I wonder if there are times when it is better to not utilizie the polarizer. Pardon if this is a basic question; I am a serious amateur and still learning about mirrorless. My main topics are dinner parties, sunsets, and landscapes. Thanks.

After-market batteries could void your Nikon warranty. Don't do it!
I am amazed that some people spend a few thousand dollars on cameras and lenses and then skimp on batteries and storage discs. Makes no sense.

I do not do business with any of the mega-banks for the reasons stated above. There are five; you can figure their names. Best to put your faith in the community banks.

My question is simple.
Why reduce light?
Lenses more expensive increase light.
