If you're used to using Notes on your Mac, you may not like what you see when you open it up on your iPhone. The iOS version of Notes does not nest folders, instead it shows a stream of every folder and subfolder open to the individual notes they contain. On your Mac you can scroll down the list of closed folders to quickly locate the one that contains the note you seek. On the phone you will need to scroll down the entire contents of your collection. You can still launch a search, but I wish they would make the Notes directory window behave more like browser bookmarks.

I need to convert all my Notes to iCloud and get them off of AOL, which limits my Notes power and flexibility. (I've used Notes on AOL since dirt...)

You're talking about the Notes App, right? In iOS 12.1.4 (the very latest), there is no such + option.

After creating a note, I have only three options at the bottom of the screen — Trash Can icon, Share icon, and New Note icon. If I'm missing something, please enlighten us with screen shots or a more detailed step by step.

EDIT: Never mind. I use my AOL account for my Notes, and the options are not available unless using Apple's iCloud for Notes. When I switched to my Apple iCloud Notes, they worked perfectly.

An addition to PGphoto's recommendation of iOS "Notes" app for copying documents to PDF. Notes will also adjust for out-of-square-ness due to exposures not taken perpendicular to the surface.

A scanning feature is built right into the iPhone if you have at least iOS 12. Go to the Notes app when opened at the bottom of the screen you will see a plus sign which when pressed gives you a number of options. It scans directly to a high quality PDF when you choose scan documents.

To see exactly where the differences lie between a JPEG and RAW version of the same exposure, open both in Photoshop. Copy one and paste it into a separate layer in the other. Choose "Difference" in the Blend Mode selector. This will compare every pixel in each layer with its corresponding pixel above or below it. If there is no difference, the result will be null or black. Most of the differences will be found in transition boundaries or in areas containing very subtle blends.

While the topic of battery testing and maintenance is current, I have been looking for a way to keep my truck's battery from draining. It is parked far from an outlet and sometimes goes 2 weeks without running. I learned that periodic starting and idling drains the battery more than it recharges, so I looked into solar powered devices especially ones that can connect to the electrical system through the dash utility outlet (aka cigar lighter).

Does anyone have experience with this type of device?

I just opened up my B&H shopping cart and saw that Sales Tax had been added. B&H has no physical presence in Kentucky and I have ordered tax free in the past. When did this change take place? Are there any other large online retailers that still don't charge sales tax?

Back before the D850 was released there was speculation that it would house a hybrid EVF/TTL viewfinder.
Maybe this next offering would have the ability to toggle between EVF and full aperture through the lens viewing.

Apple's Time Machine is built in to the Mac's operating system and will backup any drives you tell it to. Every 15 minutes, Time Machine backs up new data to a drive you dedicate to the task. You can even specify a second Time Machine drive for redundancy. If one of the backed up drives fails, Time Machine will restore it to a replacement.

For free, try GIMP. It's been around for 20 years and is widely supported for Mac and Windows.

Search GIMP Youtube tutorials for a peak at user interface.
(No, I don't use it.)
Affinity is practically free and has an Illustrator-like program as well which shows their commitment.
I have Affinity, have used it, but am an Adobe user across numerous applications and rely on uniform user environment.
Affinity is my recommendation.

I was expecting to see something of the grain in the negative since you were responding to a question regarding film scanning, and you specifically refer to details in the original film.

I bought an electricity monitoring device (Kill-a-Watt) before buying a new refrigerator years ago. I wanted to see how much it was costing to run the old refrigerator and compare it to the new purchase. You can pick these up under different names for about $25. Once you have it you'll find plenty of appliances you want to monitor. Simple to use and versatile. Check Walmart.
