The Beartooth Highway can be quit a challenge to just get to drive, due to snow closures. The trick is to schedule for July, August, or September... maybe! I have tried 3 times to go over it, and was successful only once. That was in September, 2011. It has been rerouted some, so I have been told. I included a photo of the snow depth gauges, they are around 10' high, and used for when plowing the snow so the drivers can find the road.
It is well worth the effort! Charles Kuralt, a TV journalist most known for his "On the Road" trip tips, stated it is the most beautiful road in America! We crossed both directions on the same day, ending on the south end at sunset where I took most of these. Yes, the fox was up there, too!

Your camera is a computer with a light sensor attached. Try rebooting. Take out the battery, turn it on, wait a minute or two to discharge any capacitors, turn it off, put the battery in and try shooting a photo or two. This might not work but it sure can't hurt to try.

I don't have a new Mac but I have the latest OS loaded so this should work.
Look at System Preferences under the Apple menu. Then select Energy Saver. (the light bulb icon on the 4th row) You will have several options.

I am thinking about cutting the cable cord and looking into tv antenna's. We have 4 towers within 95 miles but lots and lots of trees so I am thinking I will need an outdoor model.

My question's for everyone are:

1. What model do you have?
2. Does it work like it's supposed to?
3. Would you purchase the same model again?

Thanks
Cindy

I would recommend you go to the web site http://www.tvfool.com put in your location and see what channels are available to you. I use three antennas up about 50 ft on my ham radio tower pointed in three different directions. I get 38 channels. (after deleting the religious channels) I get all of the normal networks twice from two different directions, four versions of PBS and a bunch of other channels playing old TV programs and movies.

1. As for what I use, I have two 8 bay antennas with preamps. One pointed north at Moilne IL and one pointed east at Peoria IL. My third antenna is an old Wingard yagi pointed south west to get my fourth PBS from Macomb IL. I need to put up one more antenna, a VHF antenna to get a CBS station in Moline still transmitting on ch4 and possibly a fifth PBS on ch12 in Iowa City. All of the antennas are combined to a single coaxial cable in the basement, amplified and split to three TVs in the living room, kitchen and den.
2. Yes, it works.
3. If I were doing it again, I would use 4 bay antennas as the 8 bay are very sharply directional and are a pain to keep aligned on the stations.

Remember when it comes to antennas, there is no substitute for size or height. ;-)

Good luck cutting the cable
Fred

P.S. I have a DSL internet connection from the local phone company and get Netflix and Amazon that way.

I believe most recent cameras warn against using a linear polarizer, as it affects the auto-focus mechanism (or the auto exposure). Circular polarizers apparently are OK.

Speaking as a Physicist, All photographic polarizers are linear. The only circular thing about them is the mounting to make it possible to rotate it to the best angle.

Broadcast stations, AM and FM, have had peak limiters and compressors in line between the studio and the transmitter for decades. The dynamic range got reduced by all this processing and most of what we heard was all similar volume.

I would guess that, just like a flag whipping in the wind, the wing tips occasionally exceed the speed of sound and get shredded.
