We were there last summer in the height of tourist season. Buses full of foreign tourists. No place to park at any of the special sites. It may be better if you go in September or October. Forest fires really diminished our view of Icefields. All and all not our best trip. Wish you luck.

A "headsup" for Linda from Maine. Make your reservations early. Two years ago we stayed at a Best Western in Colfax and it was completely booked. Lots of photographers, many from Japan, were there and also lining the road to summit of Steptoe Butte at sunset time. Lots of haze that time so photos were not as sharp as I like. Loved the Palouse in spring and previously had only been there in fall when the fields are gol den.
