One day I will post some shots of my beautiful grand daughter.

You can try I have been dealing with them lately. They give pretty good prices on used cameras and lenses.
I have traded in some cameras and lenses on some of their cameras and lenses.
They are pretty quick about giving you estimates, shipping and paying.
I've been satisfied with them.

I have one I could sell, don't know if it is VR1 or 2. I can check when I get home from work and let you know. It is in perfect condition.

OK, I checked the lens. It is AF-S DX Nikor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 G VR.
I will let it go for $50 + shipping.
It looks and works perfectly. It hasn't gotten much use, as I use a 18-105mm as a general walk about lens.

Its not the gear or the photographer, although each plays an important role, as do other factors. These are concepts left over from the film era.

In today's digital era of advanced software its the post processing that plays the most important role. Skillful use of modern editors can make up for and improve just about any photographic characteristic of the digital image, including composition.

Put the aside the technical data and charts for they are irrelevant and view the industry insider opinions with a jaundiced eye. Ultimately if you want to raise the level of your photography invest the time in learning a good photo editor.

To validate my point, go to at any quality photo site and look at the very best images. They did not come straight out of the camera.

You need to see a book by Gordon Laing. It is titled "in camera," How To Get Perfect Pictures Straight Out Of The Camera.
I think it would refute your assertion that it is not the gear or photographer.
Gordon Laing demonstrates with plenty of amazing photos that it is not always necessary to PP a photo to have a great image.
All the images in his book were taken with mirrorless cameras and had no post processing done to them. They are JPEGs straight OOC.
At least that's what he says in the preface of the book.
I would not be ashamed to say I had taken any of the 204 images in this book.

The color one definitely shows her beauty much better than the B&W version.
She has really nice skin complexion and the color version brings it out well.
Nice capture.

Great image that tells a very poignant story.

You have a very nice capture of a great looking horse.
Could we see a little sample of your painting artwork?
I too am an advocate for animals. I give a monthly donation to the Humane International Society.
They have been doing amazing work in getting dog meat farms shut down in S. Korea.
They bring the animals back to Canada to get them needed vet care and when they are ready they will find them forever homes.

Thank you for rescuing that lovable little ball of fluff.
You got a really great portrait of her.
We have 3 dogs and 3 cats that are all rescues or unwanted.
I have a Fuji X-T1 and an X-T20. I also have an adapter that lets me use my vintage PK lenses on them.
I need to get out and try them all out.

A great innovative idea! Having a say in where to go and what to shoot, makes it fun and interesting for the grand kids.
