I use my 18-35mm Art on my D7100 and D500 with great results. I also have the USB dock.

My wife and grand daughter both have Canon DSLR's so naturally I was leaning toward Canon and not Nikon. At dinner one night they both said it would be great if I went Canon so we could all share lenses. A picture flashed in my head of never being able to locate my lenses. The next day I went out and purchased a Nikon D7100 with several lenses and never looked back.

I've been an Apple user since the late '80s, and I thought it was like the old days: take any image you want, paste it into the bottom of the drive's Info screen, and you had a new icon. So I got a generic D500 image, inexpertly removed the background, and made it my drive icon. What I got was the generic JPEG icon. It turns out there is a new formate required for Apple drive icons.

Anyway, a free app from the App Store quickly solved my problem, and now I have a little Nikon camera icon for my photo disk. If anyone would like a copy, PM me with your email or post it here if you want to, and I'll send it along.

There is no white box around the icon.

Do you miss the 14 of the Nikon when using the Tamron?

No I don't miss the 14 and in reality 15 is not that much different. I still occasionally use the 14-24mm when I drag a tripod put. I just failed to think the purchase through before pulling the trigger. I should have waited another 6 months.

I am planning to purchase one of these lenses, but I am not sure which one. I have read the reviews and understand each lens' pros and cons. What I need is someone who has experienced one or the other (or both) or has made a similar choice. This lens will be used on the Nikon D750 and Nikon F5.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Michael

I have both lenses and they both are very good. The Tamron has the advantage of VC so it is great for handholding and the bonus is that it is almost half the price. If the Tamron had been out when I purchased the Nikon it would have been hands down the Tamron.

Hi there! I bought a Nixon D810 and thought my Sigma 24-70 and my Sigma 70-200 mm lenses would work perfect! I was wrong, they focus very slow and not very accurate. Is there a setting I need to change? Anyone else have this issue? My Nikon 50 mm 1.4 works awesome, fast, accurate auto focus! Very frustrated as these lenses are not cheap. Thanks!

You might want to pm MT Shooter and he might know if there are firmware upgrades for those lens. I have several Sigma lens and there is nothing second class about them so just ignore the non-helpful answers.

I use a Nikon 10-24mm wide angle lens on my D3300.
But I usually have it around 18mm, IIRC.
Basically, I look at what will be around the frame of my shot, and dial the zoom accordingly to include or exclude foreground.
So I don't really pay that much attention to my zoom factor.

Sonny it looks like tonight will be a washout here in North West Indiana. They are saying nothing but solid cloud cover for the next couple days and intermittent rain.
Really it isn't so bad as I am just getting over the flue. If it would be clear skies to night I would be out no matter what which is not always an intelligent decision at my age. Flying by the seat of your pants is the only way to fly. I have made my best decisions while flying by the seat of my pants and my worst decisions when I stopped and rationally thought it out.

On top of the Nikon D810 either one of those Lenses will give you wonderful shots to work
with. I personally don't shoot lower that 18mm. I find I get to much Lens Distortion especially
if there are land base items in the shots. Good luck Neal and hope to see some of your work soon.

From what I have read so far I plan to us the Nikon 14-24 since I am using the tripod. Hopefully weather permitting I can try Saturday night. I picked up the TPE app to help me.

For reasons not worth explaining I have a Nikon 12-24mm f/2.8G, a Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 SP, and a Nikon D810. Will either of these work? I already have a heavy duty Nest carbon fiber tripod so I also have that covered also.
