Here is a link to the Classifieds Rules

Since you've been a UHH member since Jul 14, 2019 with over 580 posts this is unaccepted.
a.k.a. Trying to "Spin" a generic Main Forum query with a rhetorical question is denying legitimate Buy/Sell/Trade post the priority they warrant.

As such I've reported it to the Member's Buy/Sell/Trade Admin.

Geesh or OMG - only wait to describe this without using some nasty words!

Is it just my local store or does Best Buy want "out" of the camera business?

Maybe it IS just my local store (Simi Valley, CA). I was just in there today and there were literally only THREE cameras on display, a Sony A6000 and two entry-level Canon DSLRs. Not a single camera from any other manufacture, even the digital camcorders were nowhere to be seen. A few bags, a few tripods, that was pretty much it.

Compared to the store closest to my work (Woodland Hills, CA), where they have literally the complete current production line of Nikon, Canon and Sony, from pocket point-and-shoots to the highest-end DSLRs, plus the full lineup of lenses for all three. For Nikon, just to name one, everything from the 50mm f1.8G all the way to the "Holy Trinity" and even the 200-500 is on display.

So, maybe, it's a regional thing. Maybe my town isn't as affluent as where the other store is located. But, MY store, at least, looks like it isn't interested in selling cameras anymore. I have two independent camera stores near me. One closer to my work, but I don't get a good "vibe" when I'm in there, and the other store, which is about a half-hour drive in the opposite direction, but where they really know me and appreciate my being there. Fewer and fewer independent stores are still around. Many disappeared because of the "big box" stores, but even some of those, like MY Best Buy, are phasing it out.

Sad.

I was at Best Buy today in Colorado Springs, CO. Very large store and the camera displays were very large and complete. They were exhibiting every current camera brand and model that is on the market. They also had a huge display of mirror-less only cameras. Just guessing but there must have been at least 30-40 cameras on display. My only problem with Best Buy has been there pricing and the ignorant sales people. They are getting better with pricing and competing with the online resellers. I purchased a 4K Sony DVD player within $4 of Amazon pricing. The salesperson that helped me could not answer one question about the product.

cells are handy, but with a lens smaller than a penny and a chip the size of your little finger nail they'll never be as good as even an average camera, great to have on hand for quick videos and such.

I would not say NEVER! The cell camera is continually getting better and better. I have seen some very nice photos created with the cell camera. I have several hanging in my home.

I am scanning at 48 bit color. I installed the software from the CD that came with the scanner. What is the Epson SW app? Thanks

I am dealing with slides and not actual negatives. 4 slides is all tray holds.

You are correct - switched to 300 dpi and not a lot of improvement but somewhat faster. 4 slides max is what I missed in my research. Do not understand why that is the limit when scanning deck is much larger.

Preview takes 3-4 minutes. Using iMac with 40 gb ram. Check your time. I’m timing from loading slides, preview, then final scan then loading new slides. 1200 dpi. Connected with usb cable provided with scanner. The V600 is not wireless so WiFi is not a consideration. I have checked you tube videos and all report it is a slow process - maybe for a handful of slides but for 25 years of old slides it is slow process.

Thanks for the info but the tray provided with my scanner only holds 4 slides. Not sure, but I may be able to buy a larger one.

So I purchased this scanner recently to scan my slides which have been in a big box on the storage shelf that my wife has threatened to throw in the dumpster. After acquainting myself with the scanner, I have learned that to scan 4 slides at 1200 DPI takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. At age 72, I am not sure I have enough time left to scan 1000 slides (lol). Am I doing something wrong or should I chalk this up to not doing enough homework prior to purchase. A scanning service that does this may have been the better alternative.

I would like the collective opinion of this community for an interpretation of NIB before I take the seller to task. I purchased a camera from a seller on eBay and it was advertised as NIB. I expected to get a brand new unused camera with all cables and documentation in the manufacturer's original packaging. What I received is a camera with a filter on the lens that was overly tightened, a charger, and a battery. Admittedly, the camera was in pristine condition. However, the charger clearly was previously used since it had many scuff marks on it. There was no documentation and no cables. Furthermore, none of the Nikon original packaging was included. I intend to notify the seller that he misrepresented the offering but before I do so, I want to know how the community interprets NIB. Thanks for your input.

Luminar and PS 21 can now do sky replacement. Don't get me wrong, I sometimes massage my photos a lot by cropping, using spot repair, cloning out small unwanted bits, adjust exposure, and sometimes add a little saturation. But sky replacement to me seems like too much. Do you still call it a photo after you replace the sky? Do you enter it in a contest without saying anything. Do you accept compliments without saying anything? Not trying to be a purist, but when you start adding and replacing items in a photo, it seems to me it is no longer a photo. It's probably photo art. Not trying to start a fight, just interested in your perspective.

How is what you do any different than enhancing the sky? Those that use these tools are mostly artists (in my case just lucky) and photography is an art!

I have a Canon M50 and one of the well known downsides to this camera is poor battery life. I love the camera so I just bought a couple of extra batteries for travel purposes. One tip I learned the hard way was to always buy OE batteries and make sure they are manufactured by Canon. I have discovered there are batteries branded Canon but are not OE. I wish Canon would pursue those that steal their brand name and put a stop to it!

I purchased logo and their program (photo polish) which puts logo on multiple photos at once. They allow install on 3 computers only. I installed on 2 computers and I replaced those 2 recently and they would not allow me to re-install without paying again. Even Microsoft allowed me to re-install Office without problems. I emailed company and explained and then begged and they said FU! No patience for crooks! Most will tell you to use Lightroom. BTW I was not able to transfer program to new computer with backup!
