One other comment, KEH is in Atlanta and I live in the metro area. I have to pay tax. MPB does not charge tax, at least I haven’t paid any.

One reason why I don't sell to them anymore. MPB quotes a price and if they value it less, they contact first.

I have purchased lenses from KEH but never sold to them. MPB prices always better.

I ordered an item from MPB that was to have been delivered Saturday by Fed EX to my apartment. I live in a gated community. Fedex on the website said it was delivered at 7:30 pm. I do not have it, nor does our complex office have it, which closed at 5:00 pm on Saturday.

I wonder how the vaccine just treats the COVID-19, maybe it will cure us of all virus’s .

No!
But wearing masks can decrease influenza and common colds transmissions.

I’ll be standing in line to get a vaccine as soon as available. Here in N.C., our positive test rate has jumped fro 6.2% to 10.8% since Thanksgiving. We’ve gone from <2000 new cases/day to >4,000 in the same period. We’ve never seen numbers like these in the entire pandemic. The scary thing is that a sizable percentage of our population has decided not to take the vaccine or are not sure according to a recent survey. They are apparently the same people such as a local shop owner that has a sign in her store window telling customers NOT to wear masks in her store. Our local hospital has ~50 Covid cases in hospital and the ICU beds are almost full, and we could slow this scourge down if people would just do the simplest things. What is wrong with these people? Have they not read the details of the large scale studies showing very few and very mild side effects?

We have just had the sad duty to tell our grandchildren that we won’t be having a large Christmas party and gift opening this year for the first time in almost 60 years in this house. Why? Because as grandparents, we want to be around long enough to help pay for their college and weddings.

I understand your feelings so well. There are places of business I will not visit after this over because of their behavior in this pandemic, if they are still alive.
I have a granddaughter who will be 3 in January, have not seen since last January.
But I plan on flying out this summer.

As a keyboard player, I agree. Luckily I have a nephew who is a brilliant guitarist, singer and accordianist!

I have been hearing that joke all my life.
It usually comes from someone who knows little or nothing about accordions and bayans. There has been a great revival of interest about the instrument. Europe especially continues to lead the world in serious performers.
I am 79, and have played the accordion since I was 6. I made a lot of people happy listening to my performances.
My favorite comment, the accordion is easy to play, difficult to master. Like chess.

There was a time that people would kill for 14.2 MP as they were paying a lot more for a lot less.

"The D1 was replaced by the D1H and D1X on February 5, 2001.[6] The D1X offered higher resolution with a 4,024 x 1,324 - 5.3 effective megapixels sensor (3,008 x 1,960 interpolated image output), and continuous shooting of 3 frames per second for up to 21 consecutive shots. The D1H was oriented towards fast-action photography, keeping the same 2.7 megapixels image sensor as the D1, but pushing the frame rate to 5 frame/s for up to 40 consecutive shots. Both the D1H and D1X use the sRGB/AdobeRGB color spaces, which is an improvement over the original D1."

You just might be happily surprised.

I was happily surprised. Took photos of our Thanksgiving dinner and the quality was great.

Again, thank you for all the good suggestions. I ordered my 35mm 1.8. Probably paid more than I intended for a lens for an old camera. We will call it a Christmas present.
My reasons, old camera, only 14.2 MP. Light weight, so might as well keep the weight down. I will purchase only primes for this lens, if I buy anymore. On the other hand, one of my other cameras is a Sony a6000 for which I use some of my EFS Canon lenses. I may get an adaptor to see how the 35 mm works.
My Canon 80d my main camera is getting heavy for me to take on long walks due to my arthritis. This Nikon will not sub for that Canon; it can't.
But I have something new to try out during this freakin' pandemic.

Again, sincere thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I am amazed how much info was presented and I read every message and checked out every link. You folks are great!

Now, what lens would you suggest I get for my....
:)

Thank you every body for all the suggestions.
I wasn’t as familiar with Nikon lenses as I am with Canon. So the comments and suggested links were valuable.
I decided to get the 35 mm 1.8 and ordered it today from KEH.
I like the light weight of the 3100 will give it a try for street/low light.

The DX 18-55mm and prime DX 35mm both work well on the DX Nikons. The additional speed of the 35mm adds an enjoyable aspect lacking in the 18-55.
Stay away from the DX AF-P lenses since they won't work on the 3100.

Thanks
