I don't know how anyone can compare Trump to John McCain and even remotely find Trump as a "winner" in any form. McCain has more American Spirit in his urine stream than Trump will ever have.

Is there no bottom to the lack of morals on the right?
McCain was an icon, an American hero who stood up for what he believed in.
Have a little respect and if you can't say any thing good about this man then keep your damn mouth shut.

Because McCain was a Republican I could not vote for him. But he was an honorable man. The Vietnamese would have returned hin from captivity but he refused their conditions out of concern for other prisoners. As punishment he was maltreated that amounted to torture. I always regarded him as being closer to 'old time' Republicans than the modern kind. You know those old time Rs had different ways to solve problems than the Ds, but they did not deny the problems.
Like todays newspaper has an article on algea blooms in Lake Superior, yet many modern Rs call global warming a hoax - they deny a problem exists.

The political party shouldn't matter. It's the person who is running that matters. You COULD vote Republican. You just didn't WANT to.

Ditto on the culture in my dad's store.
Now gotta mention a similar situation about grapes. Buying by the pound I'm wondering sometime if the loose grapes in the bottom of the sack were swept up from the floor just to add weight - most times they don't even look like those still on the stems.

I open the bag of grapes, take out what I don't want and put the remainder into a different bag. That bag will have more grapes than stated on the bag, but they're sold by the pound any way. It also gives me a chance to check for bad grapes. I do the same with cherries.

Inspired by the recent posts of bee captures, I took my camera out last night to see what I could do. I do not have a macro lens, so to get the shallow DoF I wanted I used my Sony 100-400 4.5 - 5.6 GM OSS lens at 400mm. Also, I had to use the auto-focus because of the rapid movement of the bees. The camera body is the Sony a7rIII. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The only suggestion I have is to keep doing what you're doing. These are great!

My wife and I are off to Yellowstone next week. I plan on doing some wildlife photography up in Lamar Valley with my 150-600 mm lens. My question is will I need that lens as we hike around the park or is my 16-80 mm lens sufficient (along with bear spray of course!!). I would rather not hike around with the big lens but I will if those that have been there before think it will be advantageous to have. Thanks for any insight!!

I would take the 150-600 mm lens so you can get "close ups" of the animals. You could use a monopod or even a tripod. If you don't want to carry that, check out the Cotton Carrier web site. They have a device which attaches to their vest that's used like a tripod.

This image was made in our garden after a downpour. To make the image I used the Olympus EM-10 Mk II with the 17mm f2.8 Zuiko pancake lens set at f5.6.
Original RAW file edited with Affinity Photo. I used some sharpness, contrast and a slight curves adjustment along with slight underexposure to taste to saturate the color of the leaves.
No filter used.

Beautiful! Looks like a painting.

You probably mean bearing; not Bering. Bering is the name of a place.

Great shots! I like puffins. There is a breed of dog that was bred to get puffins. At one time, I imagine puffins were used for food. The Norwegian Lundenhund can climb up steep cliffs to get the puffins. They have 6 toes on each foot and can practically turn their head all the way around. Look them up on the Internet.

In my opinion... more than likely. Technology moves forward. The iPhone changed photography, and videography. I got a Practica 35mm camera when I was 12. My dad bought it out of Alden’s catalog. (Gone the way of encyclopedia britanica). I bought a Nikon FE when I was 14. Bronica 2 1/4 at 16... I’ve stuck w Nikon and now 40 yrs later shoot a D4. My next camera will be a mirrorless. ( my 9 yr old couldn’t lift the D4 w 80-200 2.8 and sb700 to hit face). Not sad that tech moves on, I’m looking forward when I can afford the move. Alas for my Brother that has recently spent $200k on Nikon gear. His new 850 and D5 are Magnificent, but will be replaced in the near future by mirrorless. I’m sure he will “Love” those cameras for Years and Years! As I will the D4. Maybe when Nikon comes out w a ML I won’t have to replace all my glass:)

No cell phone, iPhone or any other, will take the place of a good quality DSLR or even a good quality point-and-shoot. There may be lenses that can be added, but . . . .

With all the mirrorless cameras coming out are we going to see the end of DSLR?

I certainly hope not soon. I've got too much invested.
