"Macro means you're taking super close-ups of objects at 1:1. Meaning, the size of the image on your sensor is equal to the size of the item you're photographing in real life. Micro means the magnification is at a microscopic level. In other words, it deals with subjects you can't see with your naked eye." Also Talltree gets this concept too.
If you need a MICROSCOPE to see what you want then it is "micro." If you can see what you want then it is a "macro". It is a general way so to speak and write -- no big deal making a mountain out of a molehill. Anyway, this is what I taught in the 8th grade.

I'm not surprised by the photos taken by the iPhone-- I think modern technology will render many older cameras obsolete unless you just want to use them out of habit. The photo technology of pictures taken from space is astounding as well as pictures taken of the galaxies, etc. in the cosmos. It takes time but there is a lot of progress that can be made now and in the future-----

Last year I noticed a male cardinal pecking at my bedroom window, he was relentless and attacked his reflection so often that he tore holes in my screened window. It cost me plenty to have the screen replaced. We tried to place something between the screen and window hoping that he couldn't see his reflection. This action went on for two or three days!! I thought at first the bird was crazy but now I see where you had relatively the same experience with a blue-jay.

Sorry to ask another question. Is it "Nik Kon" or "Nei Kon"?

It is definitely "Nei Kon" ex. would you pronounce the name of the car a "Nisan" or would you pronounce it "Nesan?" So the manufacturer of the car knows what to call it but we tend to confuse the "I" and the "E" in the alphabet, that is more like the romance languages' alphabet not the english alphabet. But I do get a kick listening to commercials on TV advertising Nisans by a guy with a cowboy hat who doesn't know any better LOL. I am sorry if I offended so many of you -- call it what you want because you Anglos will have your way as usual.

Essentially, zoom lenses have become equivalent to prime lenses, so I read. Your Nikon 24-120mm lens will do the job.

But this opinion may help clarify the use of prime lenses (AKA fixed focal length lenses): https://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/fixed-lenses-take-better-pictures.htm

Thanks for sharing the kenrockwell.com article -- just what I needed.

It must be a slow train because the smoke was streaming ahead of the train unless there was an extremely fast back wind--LOL.

It is a good idea to take out your tripod /monopod and manulipate (study the screwing, etc.) the various ways to set it up, otherwise they will stay where you keep them. I know that I have neglected doing this and to set them up again makes them easier to use….

Strange how names in history sticks -- INDIAN for example comes from Colombus' seach for the East by sailing west --- these native "Americans" aren't Indians but we continue to perpetrate this false idea. "Indians" should refer to the people native to India! I don't trust history books that much!

For the 12 century -- the glass work was the best way to communicate with the church goers. Remember each piece of glass told a part of the bible's new testiment stories.
You have done a great job putting all this glass in photos -- congratulations!!

Holy molly!! Brandy Wine Creek in Delaware?? That made me remember a book read to us in the 4th grade which I enjoyed so much. The book entitled "The Bears of Blue River" by Charles Major has the last chapter called "Castle on Brandywine" which was an exciting story about a camp-out in the forest making a hallowed out sycamore tree their "castle" while the boys trapped beavers, etc. during the Holliday Season. Strange how the memory works!! Is this the same Brandy Wine Creek??? The book I have was printed in 1938 and published by Curtis Publishing Company.
