Don, I watched it all. When I was 8, I was given one of those mass-marketed, mass-produced microscopes. My dad and I would sit together for hours, testing water samples, insect parts and and making slides to keep in my slides box. I loved it. Of course, your microscope is much better than mine, but my fascination is still with me. Thank you for the tour of the creatures we seldom get the chance to see.

I know I'm late reading my notifications, however, I really want to say,"That is a cute baby pigeon." Splay legs happen when the nest is too soft for the baby to stand. One or both legs can have a splay. Try giving it a place to perch. Make sure the perch is close to the surface of wherever you put it. During my years rescuing and keeping pigeons, I only had one chick with splay, and it was both legs. In this case we were told Popsicle® sticks make good leg braces. We tried that, but the poor bird looked so sad that we took the sticks away and got it a perch. It couldn't use it, but just being encouraged to stand showed improvement. Then we started putting it on the perch and after about a month it was strong with little splay to detect. I hope this helps.

I've been using ichthammol for at least 45 years. It works on just about anything. It seems to work sort of like warm tar. That's what my mother did. She'd go out to the road in front of the house, and scrape a small bit of tar off the road. She'd come in and apply the warm tar to whatever my complaint was - bee sting, boil, splinter, thorn... It always worked. I had forgotten about that until my kid got a splinter and that's when I discovered ichthammol, thanks to advise from the pharmacist. With the advent of concrete streets, tar has become hard to find.

My daddy had an alligator belt he would whip out of his belt loops. My mother had a wooden spoon. If I messed up I'd get the wooden spoon and then sent to my room to wait for my daddy to get home from work. When he got home, Mother would "fill him in". The worst sound ever was the sound of my daddy coming up the stairs. Second worst sound was that alligator belt being pulled out of his belt loops. Gotta say, I did become a better kid quickly.

I use all these words and expressions. In fact, I was talking to a bank representative on the phone last week. She told me about some investments I should look at when "Heavens to Megatroyd" fell out of my mouth. She cracked up. "I haven't heard that in ages," she said.

The term used in the flag etiquette as outlined by the Almanac (that is not official, it's an Almanac, designed to tell you when to plant crops and identify the stages of the moon, etc.) refers to an actual flag. Like the ones you run up a flag pole, not a replica. According to the American Legion flags on clothing is not a problem. But it is NOT ok to cut up an ACTUAL flag (one that is made to be hoisted up a flag pole) and make it into a bikini, shirt, awning, etc. Please read this from The American Legion:

But the reality is, they are all inaccurate and totally demeaning towards all women. If you find them funny then you are one of the many, many individual who believe women are inferior to men and are only here to serve men and do what they are told.
I was raised in a household of females, my mother and two sisters. My mother worked two jobs to see to it her children had a better life growing up than she had. She was a child of the depression era. Both my sisters were straight A students all the way through college. My younger sister is a retired full bird colonel USAF and no doubt she could kick your butt without a problem. One of her hobbies is racing vintage prototype sports cars. My other sister has a doctorate in physics and is a research scientist. Like their brother, they both ride motorcycles. My older sister, the smart one, her hobbies are baking and restoring and driving older muscle cars. I'm telling you this just to let you know not all females fit the template these so called jokes cast them in.
I'm not telling you, you should be offended. I don't really care if you are offended or not. I've not told anyone they should be offended, regardless of how offensive the demeaning humor is. I doubt you and people like you understand how demeaning this type of humor really is. If you find it funny, laugh.
But the reality is, they are all inaccurate and to... (show quote)

Please do not project what you perceive to be what I feel. I find them funny because they are absurd... I do not feel inferior at all. I find it funny that the men in these jokes think they can get away with that stuff. And I really don't need you to brag on your family to prove your point. My point is, we are not largely insecure or feel we have little self worth. (There are men who tend to make that stuff up in their heads to make themselves feel better about themselves - you know when someone feels small they will try to drag others down lower to feel big) That's why we can laugh at this stuff... because we know better. As I said, it is absurd and, therefore, funny. And yes, all those jokes are inaccurate. That's what jokes are about. Absurd and inaccurate is funny, therefore, I suppose you might be funny.

BTW, I worked 3 jobs to support my family. My husband was 100% disabled at 34 and unable to work so I supported him, our 2 children (one also disabled at birth), my mother-in-law who moved in and lived with us for 18 years, my granddaughter who came to live with us when she was 2, and my grandson who lived with us from birth until the age of 16, and my daughter who didn't moved out until she was 34 (because she was 50% disabled and needed help...she was the healthy one...) For 33 years I worked 7 days a week, 18 hours a day. I didn't have time to get a college degree, serve in the military, build muscle cars (although for 6 years I helped my husband rebuild cars and run them at the drag strip for fun), yet I worked those hours and still maintained the home and did the cooking and cleaning. I am currently a master of wildlife artistry (a taxidermist) and work with animals twice my size skinning, tanning the hides or mounting them. I know animal anatomy and animal behavior... A to Z. Your younger sister probably could kick my butt. I'm 65 and have a lung disease, but back when one of my jobs was new home construction, I'd have given her a run for her money. I'm not so strong now (as if that is any measure of woman...) and the best I could do is throw a dead deer at her. Its ok... you can laugh at that. I won't be offended if you do.

People like me, sir? People like me are strong enough to take a punch and laugh about it.

I find these jokes funny because they are. I do not take offense, I do not shame people who tell these jokes, and I find men who tell me what I ought to be offended by offensive.

*A man driving a car hits a woman. Whose fault is it? The man's. Why was he driving in the kitchen?

*As an airplane is about to crash, a female passenger jumps up frantically and announces, "If I'm going to die, I want to die feeling like a woman." She removes all her clothing and asks, "Is there someone on this plane who is man enough to make me feel like a woman?" A man stands up, removes his shirt and says, "Here, iron this!".

*Why do women have smaller feet than men?
It's one of those "evolutionary things" that allows them to stand closer to the kitchen sink.

*How do you fix a woman's watch?
You don't. There is a clock on the oven.

Absurdity has always been the foundation of a good joke.

I think these are very creative and done with an artist's eye. Perhaps best seen and appreciated by another creative artists. Those with limited imaginations who can't find their way outside their boxes may have some trouble seeing their beauty.
