Hello everyone!

I'm new to this site. I just recently received a Nikon D5100 for my birthday because of my love for photography. I am however new to the digital world. Any tips on how to shoot the night sky, Leonids and Geminids meteor shower in particular? I can't figure out how to leave open the shutter so I can get a few streaks in the sky. Any help/tips welcomed! Thanks!
