What a wonderful description, for something that I have found awfully difficult to describe. I was not on a destroyer, but I did sail on my own from, Vancouver to Oahu, and back in 2003. Incredibly beautiful, lonely, but not in an unpleasant way. Lots of dolphins, albatrosses flying along between the waves then suddenly swooping up in front of you. Slept an hour at a time, with radar to keep me aware, as many freighters do not use navigational lights at night. Even woke up to find a whale alongside my boat making a snorting sound. Spent four days becalmed in the Pacific Gyre, what an awful mess, polystirine everywhere, flip flop shoes, water bottles, every piece of floating garbage you can imagine. Found five Japanese glass fishing floats! Then the incredible thrill of seeing Molokai in the distance on my port side, and Oahu in the distance, and thinking “I’ve made it!”. Took 32 days to sail there, and 31 days back to Vancouver. Not for everyone, but a thrill of a lifetime!
Your wonderful description brought it all back. Thank you!

Thanks. Seems as though it is coming down to Macphun Luminar, partly because it is linked to FX Photo Studio, but also because they are working on an organising system for release later. My wife has used Elements on Windows for years and quite likes it, but she finds it is slow. Would live to try iPhoto, but it is not in the new apps, so I don't have it!! Pity, I gather it was very good.

Thanks so much cyclespeed, I will check out Photos and Preview, and Lesa Snider's book. Am gradually moving pix to an external hard drive, but there's an awful lot of culling to be done !!

I have, for years used an iPad with Photoshop Express, and loved it. I have now switched from a Windows desktop, and bought a Macbook Pro. Having heeded years of Hedgehog advice, I upgraded it from an I5 to an I7, and 8 to 16gigs. I am looking for an upgrade from Photoshop Express, to something not horribly difficult, but that I can slowly grow into, not necessarily by Adobe, and no subscriptions. Tempting in a way to go to Lightroom, as I keep reading about how good it is at organising, and I have 6,000 to 7,000 pix to organise!! Any thoughts, please?

Had the Olympus EM1, and initially felt it was great, good colour, handling etc., but the menu was really difficult, and I started looking around again. One thing that really bugged me was that you had to buy a lens hood separately for almost every lens. I ended up selling all my Olympus equipment, and bought the Fuji XT1. Much better quality construction, better menu, better colour, but that is very subjective, a fraction heavier, and absolutely love it.
Have not moved up to XT2, yet, but I gather it's even better! Hop it helps!

Yes, I put down the bucks! Shot Nikon for years and switched to Olympus, and about 10 Oly lenses. Always something missing, touch screen "pretty" but not very useful, but found the dials good.
Now I have the Fuji XT1. Love it. Seems as though more life in Landscapes, flowers, portraits, etc. without processing, except what camera does! Yes, there's a fair number of buttons, 6 function, Q button for stored programs etc. Focus Assist is invaluable. A much simpler Menu than on Olympus.
Somehow it all seems much simpler and cleaner. Build quality is great.
Of course, have not sold the Olympus yet, but so far, much prefer the Fuji.

Yes, endless problems. Advised to use Adblock Plus. Free download. Cured the problem. Hope it helps.
