What did the doctor say about your GAS? There is no sense to talk gear if you still have the slightest trace of it.

He said I must talk and Buy a Sony A7r2, which I di.

Bit A7r3 is better, which I Will.

I think I'll get the 18-105 with a very cheap a6000 and use it as a second body. I read the 18-105 can be used on a7r2 as video lens eith vety good results.

Thanks for your testing. As someone said "decent glass will give better results on a better sensor" given excellent glass will give excellent results on excellent sensor.
So I think you are right that 18-105 will give slightly better results on the a7r2's sensor which is better than the one on a6000. Thanks for confirming.

Yes they will work perfectly. Just make sure the camera is on crop mode. If it is on auto it will detect Sony crop lenses, but you may have to change it manually for non-Sony lenses. Even allowing for the drop to 16 -18 mpix don't expect aps-c lenses to compare with GM lenses.

Thanks. I'm aware of that but will iq be better, same or worse as if the same lens is mounted on a native crop camera?

Hi all,

It's a while I don't post but for personal reasons I did not shoot much...but changed many cameras (severe GAS attack).

Now I'm settled down and satisfied with a Sony A7RII.

Problem is lens. I use Canon adapted lenses with Sigma MC-11 mainly because the FE GM lenses cost a kidney and a liver. Now I'm curious how Sony apsc lenses perform on my R2. I now that they crop and many do not recommend etc etc, but I can get a couple of E lens very cheap. I'm speaking of the 10-18 and 18-105 G.
Does anyone use them on the A7r2? How does the 18mpx image compare? I mean is it usable for non professional needs?
Anyone has tried other combinations and can give advise?
Thanks.

I believe I know you from M4/3.com

The 610 is heavy compared to the 7. LENSES: Pretty sure that most of them you will never consider, let alone buy. So if the focal lengths that you use is available in the Sony, go for he A7II - don't you want 5 axis IS?

Yes I am on m4/3. Un' a jpeg and zoom boy so tuo se are importanti to me.

Yes Nikon has more lenses available. Are they better than Sony; I doubt it. I don't see why you would need anything that Sony doesn't make.

For the photography you stated that you do this would be a good start. You can always add a lens or two if you find you need them.

Of course this is my opinion; I believe that's what you were asking for. Not just my opinion but that's the only one I have.

Anyway have fun!

So get a Nikon D5300. My refurb one arrived yesterday. My other Nikon is a D800. Even though I now have all the lenses I need for the D800 (which, being Nikons, also work on the D5300) I have an idea I'm going to be grabbing the D5300 more often than the D800.

When Nikon comes forth with a mirrorless D5300 that uses the existing mount lenses (both of which they haven't figured out yet with their current mirrorless offering) I'll be first on the waiting list.

I mailed off my Sony NEX-7 yesterday also.

Both. Sony a6000 and the d610. I did. They both have their place. I like having the choice between crop sensor and FF.

One thing you may or may not have thought of is "you buy a camera, and then you start to accumulate lenses"--which pretty much means that that is your camera brand for life--Nikon has never changed its lens mount--the very first lens I ever owned will still fit on my newest Nikon--whether Sony will even be making cameras ten years from now is an unanswered question--I would stick to Nikon or Canon--but Canon has in the past changed its mount--which makes me glad I chose Nikon.

Yes I know. I had a D7100 and it was an awesome camera then stupidly sold it because of weight but at the end of the day I don't lug cameras around all day if not in very particular situations like holidays and even then I have a lighter setup that is my Oly gear.
Yhe more I look at it the more I'm getting aware that it is really a very severe attack of GAS and so I must feed it otherwise it will grow more and until I go after something like D750 or A7MKII.

I'm a Nikon guy so of coarse I'm going to recommend Nikon. But a big reason I am a Nikon guy is because of the glass. They have a huge number of lenses available that are top quality. If you are moving up to full frame, then the slight weight savings of the Sony shouldn't matter much anyway. I have never regretted having Nikons.

Can you please quantify 'slight' weight savings?
