Thank OnD--

Just curious how you would compare the noise reduction in LR4 vs the Ninja program you use? And yes, DFine is NIK's noise reduction program and I just find it to be amazing. I am more than ok using LR's but for whatever reason--I haven't for more important jobs like the one I am processing. I have however done the first image in a series and created my own Preset and then applied that Preset to the rest--but again usually run the images thru NIK DFine vs using LR's noise reduction.

I know you gave me suggestions on how to reduce the Noise in LR4---is that exactly what you do? I have only really used under "Noise Reduction", then "Luminance" slider. Should I also be using the Contrast tab. These particular images are from Division I hockey this past weekend--shot at either 1250 or 1600 ISO on my Canon 1D3. Just about to start processing so not sure what to expect with the bright ice.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Warm Regards,

Jeff

I'm attempting to try & batch process vs one @ a time by running all the images thru DFine 2.0 for noise reduction. I have all the NIK plug-ins in LR4 on my iMac however I do not have Photoshop.

Does anyone know if this can be done and if so the details to accomplish this?

Thanks--Jeff

Do you mean cut to fit the bottle so you can't see it from the front or placed outside the photo used as a reflector?

I'm taking on a new project which is photographing not on the products for a micro brewery but general shots from the brewery itself such as the brewing process etc.

I'm looking for any tips on photographing beer bottles, 6 packs of beer, glasses with beer just poured into them, etc.

I've heard there are solutions one can spray the bottles with to make them shine. Ever heard of this and what are those products?

Also if you've done this type of project before, any staging and lighting tips would be greatly appreciated. Final images will be used on Facebook, internet ads, and some for posters and print ads.

Michael (and others)--

Thanks for all of your inputs. I have a Canon 5DMkII and on Exp Bracketing it does only 3--- So what I did was determine the Aperature I would like to use, then switch to Manual Mode--- I then find an approx exposure that fills up a good bit of the Histogram, with perhaps a slight exposure to the right. Then I go down approx 4 shutter speeds and shoot about 8 bracketed Shutter speeds t to going up--so my first exposure I see when I go to edit is my lightest exposure (longest shutter speed) well actuall the first I see is my hand because before i shoot a 'Series' I put my hand in front as just makes it easier when I get to the editing....

Does that sound like a good strategy? Too many exposure brackets? Am I getting a good average with this set?

Ziggy-- forgive my ignorance but how does a 16 bit format differ from I assume the original 32 bit? In other words, what does it do to the photo to make the final result different?

Starting to do more HDR...curious as to which HDR software you use & why. I'm using Photomatix Pro 4.1...having mixed results. What I mean is although I seem to be able to get the 'far out' there results, I'm also using it for real estate shots, primarily inside to get the full range, issue is I just can't seem to get 'normal' looking images, meaning images that look like real life photographs....perhaps I'm just not doing it correctly.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I am planning a 3 week stay in Costa Rica soon after an upcoming 'Procedure' and have been instructed to take a short sabbatical from it all. (One area I am looking at potentially staying in called Santa Teresa, Malpais--It lies in the southern tip of the Nicoya PenĂnsula)

Two things:

1). If you've been to Costa Rica and/or know the area well--what are your favorite areas/landmarks etc to shoot? Any particular time of day for any of these locations? Are they hard to get to?

2). By chance, do you know some nice photographers whether pro or just love to shoot who may be interested in taking another fellow photographer around?--Private Message me and perhaps I could hook up with them via email to see it there is a potential fit.

Thanks so much!!

Perhaps a silly question. Are all 5D Mark II's exactly the same technology or does it depend on age. I realize the 5D Mark I would be 'older' technology.

Mr. Byland--U are reading my mind. Decided I'll go with the 7D and eventually for portraits and landscapes...look for a 5D Mark II with lots of clicks to save some dough.

Appreciate the input.
