I had a similar experience long ago (on an early Minolta digital) - haven't used a filter since! And I'm another old f**t that has never damaged a lense or camera over 50+ years of heavy usage. However, I usually had a UV filter on my film cameras when outdoors - they actually cleaned up the atmospheric haze on a lot of occasions. Not needed with digital cameras - AFAIK every one I have owned has a built-in filter on the sensor.

Panasonic Lumix ZS100 - I have a nice form-fitting leather carrier and a shoulder strap - beats the heck out of a smartphone.

Larry, even monitors which a specifically designed for photo applications need periodic calibration. Apple is no exception

I have had a 27" ASUS display for about 5 years or so that has an SRGB mode - I have the EyeOne system, which I used on the ASUS about 3-4 times in the first year or so and the "calibration" made no difference. Now here I am about 4 years after I stopped using the EyeOne on it, and it is still outputting nearly perfect prints with my Epson P800. This is the only display that I have ever owned that just never needed calibration. I suspect one day it will just up and die, which will make me very sad.

Also occasionally there are refurbished P800s available from Epson and some of their sellers at about 50% off list. I am very happy with my P800. I agree that it has better paper feed than the 3880. I have heard however, no personal experience, that the roll paper mechanism is a bit fragile.

We updated to the P800 (from the 3880) specifically for the roll feed capability - 2-1/2 years and many large panos printed without a single issue. It has also been vastly better than any of our earlier printers when it comes to clogging - the P800 has only clogged the standard black, and it doesn't clog that as long as we remember to print every week or so. We have made that easy - we just print out a document on it instead of using the Canon laser printer we used to use all the time! I don't print mat photos, so we aren't wasting ink switching blacks. The standard black works just fine on plain paper documents.

I believe that Johnston has switched to Sony and states that he loves it and has no regrets.

No, he upgraded to the Panasonic/Lumix G9 - he is also very fond of Fujifilm. When upgrading this time, he wanted "In Body Stabilization" and the Lumix G9 he bought was significantly less costly than the Fuji X-H1, which is the only high-end Fuji body with stabilization. Both cameras are terrific. I was in the same boat, having earlier versions of both Lumix and Fujifilm cameras - I held out for the post-holiday sales and got the camera I really wanted (the X-H1) when it went on sale at a huge discount in mid-January.

According to the user manual for the Canon 7D Mark II, settings will only change in M if you are using auto ISO.

I'll bet that the Canons work the same as my non-Canon cameras that allow Exposure Comp with Auto ISO - the ISO changes up & down with the Compensation setting, leaving aperture and shutter undisturbed.

The first is the least expensive since it will only cover a crop sensor at 100%. The other two are designed to cover full frame sensors at 100%. The first can be used on a full frame camera in the crop mode but only if that camera is compatible with an AF-P lens.

The 12-24 f4 is one of the few really excellent DX (“crop”) lenses Nikon produced. It is one of my favorite lenses, and works great on my D800 stopped down.

Wondering the same. PSE 14 (I use this also) is a bit old now but the newest version covers new RAW files.

I believe that PS Elements is limited to 8-bit output, which seriously compromises the goodness of RAW.

I need a telephoto that goes to 600mm. The one that Fuji has for my camera only goes to 400mm. Can anyone recommend an alternative brand and adapter mount?
Thanks.

The Fuji 400mm has the same angle of view as a 600mm lens on a "Full Frame" (35mm) camera.

I'm giving up on Luminar. Their support system recommends that I download an alternate printing app, which I don't want to do. There must be a photo editor that allows you to resize in inches! Anyway, thanks for all your help and advice.

The weight of a camera is mainly in lens and not in the body.
I sincerely cannot see the advantage of the mirrorless.

You can't? Maybe this will help!
