Nice detail, I suppose the host will not survive for long. Its a cruel world for some.

Nice, I love the colour of the first image. Flower parts make such good subjects for macro.

The destruction team moves in, as if snails and slugs weren't enough. Nice pics though.

I think this is a particularly good image as it shows clearly the leg types, numbers and formation. Google explanations can be confusing when talking about true legs and prolegs and their numbers - then there is Sawflies to add to the confusion.

i think thats true with all mites, are you shooting again Brenda?[/quote]

I have got my camera out Tom but my veggie patch is taking precedence at the moment. Also, I seem to have to have already shot the same insects I am finding. I did see some ladybugs and shieldbugs yesterdy on my dog walk. I think I am getting old and lazy

I haven't seen a yellow one yet, your post sent me off to find out more - everyday we learn something new. Nice shots, apparently it is difficult to shoot as it keeps moving.

A very interesting set! The lines along the side of the larva are tracheal tubes.

Thanks for the correction Mark, am I right in thinking that such insects do have some kind of electrical pulses to create movement?

Good set. It was interesting to see inside the larva in No. 4. I am thinking those lines (looking like trees on the horizon) represent the nervous system - please correct me if I am wrong.
