I don't know for sure, but is the white section a bunch of baby spiders? If you give them a little shake, about a hundred babies will scatter in all directions...

I like it! I wish more states had signs like this! Yeah, I know it's been photo-shopped in, but I still wish more states had signs like this.

Can you rent a 2nd body? If you already have the lenses, it might be worthwhile. But as one already stated, the vibration vs. a 300mm lens will be significant. Good luck!

Definitely go to the rehearsal to see what will happen and where.

Definitely speak to the person in charge to see if there are any rules involved, such as no flash photography, etc.

Definitely arrive early and review lighting of the church, etc.

Rehearsals are often in the evening. Weddings are often in the afternoon. Don't wait until the rehearsal to review the lighting in the church; same applies for the reception site. Go there NOW to see what the light is like during the same time of day as the event. And like everybody else involved in that day, check the weather forecasts. Crummy weather means crummy light. Is your light stand or shooting position going to end up being at the same place where the buffet gets set up? What is the customer's "rainy-day" backup plan? Good luck! You'll need it.

Love the pictures! I have some I've taken that I thought were good, but these are great.
DOF = Depth Of Field = the range in front of the lens that will be, or is supposed to be in focus, and is often shown in the DOF scale on your lenses. Higher f/stop = greater range that will be in focus, at the cost of lower light for the exposure. Wide open f/stop will give you a smaller range, such as the middle of a flower in focus, but the nearest and farthest petals are out of focus. 'Tis worth the time for lots of experimentation.

I've had good luck with a monopod, as very few places would deny an older person the use of their "walking stick" that just happens to have a mini-ball head on top...

Bingo! You can learn to compose a picture without reverting to glass plates and a pan of flash powder. You can learn to compose the picture, and take it, and review it on the spot. If you don't like it, you can correct your mistake right away, instead of waiting on the processing lab, and trying to remember everything about that day and that scene. IF done with a little control, you can learn at least as fast as if you had gone back to the days of film.
