i grow and nurture bonsai trees, everything from japanese maples to chinese elms to many tropical and sub-tropical plants. my wife and i are avid rock-hounders,( we go out and dig for minerals and assorted gem stones ).
this is a nice capture, although i have noticed over the years that the caverns are getting worse. the carbon dioxide that we exhale is tearing up these wonders no matter how much ventilation they provide. i remember back 20 years ago when eveything was crystal clear, now the formations are looking grimey.
you are right, these are in the hibiscus family, but they are a rose mallow, the blooms last less than a day.
