basketball photography can be difficult, the 55-200 lens is slow and the depth of field is shallow even when wide open and the speed tends to be slow. My suggestion for moving shotsis to make panning shots (follow the player you want to shoot using your whole body) when the players are going from side to side. the background will be blurred, but the players will be sharper. Also look for non playing shots-like on the bench and the reaction of the players on plays they made or missed. emotion can really make a shot great. ask the coach if you can go to their practice and practice your shooting-a lot less presssure.
There is a neat little app called "SB-700 Nikon Speedlight" that will give you a ton of easy to use informaion-There is also several ebooks on amazon that are good refer for speedlights
If get all your shots perfect (I don't come close to that)then you could get away with a lower digital camera.Newer cameras are not just abourt Mpixels. Some of my most trasured shots are from my first Brownie. So its what you get out of the camera that counts Rockwell has good points,BUT Ive read in his site he prefers film over digital, shoots in jpeg and not RAW and does not belive in pp.
Lived on Maui for 6 years. Road to Hana is great, but very busy in the morning, if you go after a hard rain you will get a lot of waterfall pictires and there are some great lava beaches. Keep your camera ready for rainbows, they are everywhere
I like to use the manual modes most of the time, but it does not hurt to use a scene mode and see what comes out. And you can take the settings and apply to manual modes with different variations.
Good answers, also make sure your exposure compensation is not set for +. that can cause over exposure
Thanks for your help, as a new member, I was not aware of the search feature for past informaion

Has anyone used this lens? Thinking about wildlife in New Mexico. I use Nikon D7000. Sigma 150-500 mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens
I have np problem with the PP, Its number 2 that I do not like. I'm not a fan of wildlife in pens, but for many of us living in the city the zoo or wild life refuges are the only acccessible and affordable placces we can observe wildlife.
