Two nests within a mile of home both have chicks.

Are they easy to photograph? I have some nests around me too (one in Walmart parking lot) but they are very high and I can't get great shots.

headed to Roberft O'toole's workshop there on Mon; bringing my D500 and both Sigma 150-600 and Tamron 100-400; do I really need both? trying to lighten
my load ( am also bringing my Lumix G85 with 100-300 M Zuiko; O'Toole says to bring them both, but I would rather shed the 5+ pounds of the Sigma if I can;
if the consensus of responses is to bring it, also, I will

I think you will be sorry if you don’t. I have been there and also just spent 2 days shooting in Gatorland in Orlando. (See my Flickr page). All I had was my sigma 150-600. I could not have gotten the shots I did without that lens.

Nice shots. What lens/camera? I live in Sarasota (north west) and there are several nests in our neighborhood. One right next to US 41.

Thanks. I used a Canon 7dmkII with a 150-600 Sigma lens. I actually met a friend from up north and we took these shots on Blue Cyprus Lake in Vero Beach. We hired a pontoon boat for 3 hours and saw over 50 pair of osprey nesting. I would love to go back the middle of April after the chicks are born.

Took a pontoon boat onto the lake and saw and photographed over 50 pair of nesting osprey. The only problem was, we hired the boat for 3 hours and I could have stayed for 6!

What a beautiful, serene spot. I especially love the lighthouse photo. Looks like a wonderful weekend.

Really couldn't go outside during the hurricane. This was taken after on my phone. Also, we had a curfew the next day and were not allowed out on the roads and gas was scarce.

One more question, do you know what time will be of their first meeting on Monday, I want to check it in person, it seems not too far from where I live.

Thank you!

It starts at 7 p.m. and is over at 9 p.m. A very nice group of people.

Happy to know there are good photo clubs in CT. I had been with a very good photo club called 'New York Botanical & Zoological Photo Society" Name changed recently to "Bronx Photo Society" for several years. After moving to CT, I have been searching for a new club but couldn't. How can I contact them for membership If I decide to join them and what is the qualification for joining? Besides that, the location and meeting time is important to me, because I'm 73 yrs old, I don't want to drive too far and too late at night.
Thank you!

If you are interested in the camera club, go to www.simsburycameraclub.com. You will find all the information you need there. The first meeting of the year is this coming Monday, September 18. They meet at Eno Hall right in the center of Simsbury on Rte. 10&202. I don't know where you are in Avon, but it shouldn't be too far. Just show up and try it out. There is no pressure to join ($40/year) and they are a friendly group. They've been around since 1956. Tell them Susan Poirier sent you.

Yes, I was also a member - great group with lots of seminars and activities. I lived in Simsbury before moving to Florida and was also a member of Simsbury Camera Club, which is also another awesome group of photographers. Miss them.

Susan
