ok, i read on here at some time back that you should never change lens on a boat. It could get salt or whatever else inside the camera and you may not know till years later. now I am so worried i may have ruined my camera. i changed the lens many times while out on a day cruise in alaska. is there anything i can do now to reverse the damage i MAY have caused?

Sorry i just now got all these replies. Thank you for all the suggestions. i will try them out today. I do have to add however that i have used this lens twice before with no error message. also do not believe it is camera error as the camera works fine with other lenses.

haha, you must not be from Texas!
they are large ants that will strip a bush or tree over night.
they take the pieces of leaves down to their homes and when they leaves rot that is their winter food. they are very active this time of year. there will be trails of cut leaves 6 inches wide that could go half a mile away. ( i have followed them) they are smart too. once we put tar around a tree trunk to keep them off and the little suckers stuck leaves on the tar and made a trail over it to walk across. no joke!
and i have seen them up in a tree cut the leaves off and " fly" down with their leaf to the ground.

Only suggestion I have is crank up your iso significantly.
I'm really not sure what the image you posted actually is.

Excuse my ignorance - but what are "cut ants"? surely it's not what it sounds like.

i really think it would be cool to do a panning pic of cut ants. the problem is of course they only come out at night. i have a huge trail of them and i tried to put the headlights of our car on them and then see how that works. these were taken at 2.5 sec. SS panning, ISO 200 F stop 11
230mm
i want to try again tonight so any suggestions please let me know!
