You are welcome - I added a long post after the previous one you replied to.

What can I say? I miss teaching!

Your D7000 is getting a bit long in the tooth and is esp. being left behind in the sensor.
You might want to consider a newer body with at least 18mp or even a 24mp sensor.
If you decide to update your Nikon you will still have the problem the lens has a Canon EF mount.

If you decide to switch to a Canon body you will have a different menu and control system to learn. I don't know how different as I have never even taken a picture with someone else's Nikon. I had a Sigma SD10 for my first digital dslr and have used Canon bodies since December of 2013. My wife and daughter also have Canons.

I think I’m going to look into a canon compatible, even tho I’ve had my Nikon for many years I’m not totally happy with it. It seems easier at this stage of my photography life….. Thank you for great advice!

That lens (model A022) comes in mounts that work with: Canon, Nikon, Nikon Z compatibility, Canon EOS R compatibility
I looked it up, the "compatibility" means it works with the dslr to mirrorless mount adaptor made by Canon or Nikon. If I was ordering an adaptor I would call Tamron or the retailer to confirm this as the G2 has been made for a few years and those adaptors didn't even exist when it came on the market.

I also looked it up and someone does make Canon to Nikon adaptors and Nikon to Canon adapters but I know nothing about them. B&H advertises them both so a call to them might get you the information on if one would work to get the lens to work on your camera. Warning, with some adaptors the combo will work, just not with all functions so ask about that.

You might find someone to unload the Canon mount lens and get a Nikon mount lens.

If you want to use that lens then look here at the Canon USA refurbished store's selection of dslr's, any of the cameras on this page will work with the Tamron with Canon mount - do not get a mirrorless because it will require an adaptor and all functions may not work.

The two best reasons for getting camera from Canon's refurbished is 1) the factory techs have given it a more complete inspection than most new bodies get coming down the assembly line. 2) it comes with the same factory warranty as a New In Box camera. I have bought two bodies from Canon refurbished and could not tell them from NIB except for the box they come in. We have had zero problems with those cameras and for one of them it is going on 6 years now.
