I used a 4x objective and an Amscope camera adapter which says 2X on it. I have a bunch of images of a stage micrometer that lets me measure to 10 micrometers, but need to shoot the series over again with the new camera adapter.

I'm not doubting you, Bruce, but I would like to see a link to the numbers showing rate of violent crime and concealed carry law. Louisiana is, by many measures the most violent state in the nation, but it does allow concealed carry.

Bruce with a Canon wrote:
States permitting concealed carry are the lowest in violent crime.
States that do not allow citizens to protect themselves are the highest in violent crime.

To anyone who can answer this question. If we the USA are borrowing .40 of every dollar spent, How will we the USA pay for all our "free stuff" and pay down any debt. Or are we not interested in paying down debt? I did not understand from the debates how Obama plans to accomplish that. Thanks all for a great forum.

That is a problem, isn't it? And why the Republicans are responsible for most of the national debt with their "borrow and spend" economics. The Democrats are trying a pay as you go plan with the dreaded "tax and spend" anathema.

None of it is "free stuff." None, but the most uneducated among us, believe that.

So, the question is: do you want a "pay as you go" plan with tax and spend or a "let's borrow trillions from China" with a borrow and spend plan? Borrow and spend didn't work for Reagan, Bush I or Bush II. It has also not worked for Obama because no one wants to actually pay the money back that's being borrowed. That would result in tax increases and we know who is dead set against any tax increase.

Ideally, someone would think about cutting government spending, but neither major political party has taken that route in any practical, efficient manner.

BUT which party is obsessed with abortion? Really? Who spent to most time talking about abortion and birth control? Which party spent the most time talking about abortion at their convention? Maybe the party with nothing else to campaign on. Maybe the party that concocted the LIE that the Republicans want to eliminate birth control. Even a few fellow UHH'ers fell for it and repeated it here but could not provide any proof because it WASN'T TRUE. Maybe you fact check your own side's propaganda.

This is the point where some good links showing examples of all this chatter about abortion would be very useful.

When a political party is so successful in alienating large parts of the population - other than old white males - how can they expect to win elections. You know, it helps if you don't piss off all the women in the country. Even conservative talk show host Boortz talked about this this morning:

Quote:
Thanks, Too, To The Abortocentrists

By Neal Boortz

The Republicans lost any hope of regaining control in the Senate the minute that Republican men decided to open their traps and make idiotic comments about something that will never, ever affect them: abortion. Todd Akin (Missouri), Richard Mourdock (Indiana) and John Koster (Washington) … these MEN – and I want to emphasize their gender here – can take great pride for the role they played in handing g Obama a victory yesterday. Let’s see, we have Aiken with is brilliant comments on how a woman’s body has a way of shutting down the pregnancy mechanisms during a rape. We have Mourdock telling us that if a rape results in pregnancy it’s actually a gift from God, and we have Koster – a minor player, yes, but who cost female votes nonetheless – who said he (again, a MALE) opposed abortion in all cases except for the “rape thing.” These fools took what was arguably a woman’s greatest fear – rape at the hands of a violent stranger – and turned it into a treatise on the wonders of a women’s reproductive system knowing the difference between horrid violence and passion; a gift from God, or just a “thing.” Their brain-dead comments on abortion managed to push even more women into Obama’s column. All three of these fools lost. Mourdock and Aiken should have won. They were favored until their abortocentrism came through. These were two Senate seats that could have a made a difference. This election was close … and I guess we’ll never know how much damage they did. We do know, though, that it didn’t help one bit. These three obsessed men didn’t gain one single vote for themselves or for Romney. Not that it matters any more --- not that there’s going to be any real chance of turning things around in four years --- but the Republican Party is not doing itself any favors by catering to fools like this. If this Party wants to get serious about winning, it needs to find a way to appeal to women and get rid of this obsession over abortion. Abortion will NEVER be illegal. All you’re doing is chasing away voters. Period. The end.

Hey! Chula's not that bad. At least it's not Adel, Ga.

There is no life in Georgia south of I-285.

Okay, next time I post a joke I'll start out "This really didn't happen, so don't bother reading it". Will that make it clear?

Just omitting the intro would have made the whole thing more amusing.

That and had it been a fresher joke. The carrier vs. lighthouse joke goes back at least 70 years.

Reading the jokes posted here, I don't think a new joke has been written in decades.

My country now admits we are no longer a christian country that has reigned for a thousand years. We are now a multi faith country. On that I could`t care less. But when Muslems start killing their own daughters because they do not want to marry a man they chose then that does it for me. Just watched a case on TV the other night. It made me as mad as hell. The father and uncle both got a life sentence.

We -The United States of America - have never been a Christian country and even wrote that fact into a Constitutionally mandated document, that was ratified unanimously by the Senate and signed by the President.

It says, in part, " As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion..."

How much clearer can the secular nature of this country possibly be?

Because you are a wolf in sheep clothing. You preach evolution or the gap theory. Both are contrary to the word of God.

Sorry, but it's god who is mistaken and contrary to science and evolution. You can perform a simple experiment at home. Write a response to this message using a computer - the fruit of years of work by many brilliant people. Next, turn off the computer and pray real hard for god to send a response to the forum.

Let me know how it turns out. I expect you'll be turning the computer back on to send the results.

The comic who spent his whole career making millions of dollars mocking God cried out to him just short of his last breath. I hope when that time comes for you two you will keep your mouth shut. At least die as you lived. There is of course an alternative,I suggest you take it.

Who was the comedian? I'm betting on either Jim Bakker or Jerry Falwell.
