Hi all! Been a while since I've been here. Been a little busy...retiring....moving from CA back to AL, keeping grandkids, you know...all that retired stuff! :-) I did get to take a trip last week to the local zoo with my sister, her daughter and the grandkids. I'd been itching to go there to try some photos of animals and I wasn't disappointed! I had a ball!!!! Here are a few of the pics that I shot. What cha think???

Welcome to Day 26. Can't tell you how much enjoyment I am getting out of everybody's postings. Y'all are awesome.
So today is all about bringing spring early to everyone who lives in the great white north. Colors ... Colors ... Colors.
Let's beat Punxsatawney Phil to the punch and kick the next six weeks of winter in the butt. Let's brighten everybody's day with some lovely colors.
Here are a few to get us started.

These pictures were taken at the aquarium at Legoland over the weekend. I was amazed how good the pictures turned out, given I was using my IPhone 4S and no flash - amazing! :-)

Very nice shots dmnellis (Pg 4)
Just goes to show you can find color in more places then a flower garden. I love the coral photos. The way the light filters through the water gives it kind of a painting effect. Nice capture!!

Thanks Skip! I am continually amazed at the quality of pictures that come from my IPhone....the colors were just so vivid....they almost didn't look real, ya know? :-)

An under feed squirrel....

Our dog Lazi, after my daughter and neighbor friend dressed her up in a shawl, socks and slippers. They left, and she feel asleep still like that. This was many years ago.

Oh what fun!!! Great idea! My name is Deb and I'm a 59 year old widow, living in California but retiring next year and moving back home to Birmingham, AL where I grew up. Can't wait! I just recently fulfilled a longtime dream of owning a digital SLR (I bought a Nikon D5100) and taking photography classes and I'm hooked!!! The more I learn, the more I want to learn! I absolutely adore this forum - I love getting ideas from all the pictures posted and learning how shots were taken. I'm just like a sponge soaking up all this knowledge and experience from all of you who've been at this much, much longer than I have! Thank you for sharing!!!

yeah, my first two classes were on exposure. Quite confusing at first but I'm starting to get the hang of it. Here's one of my assignments - and it was a total fluke. I was doing a motion blur and wanted to take the players on the field moving and make a ghost shot out of it. 'Bout the time I went to snap the shot, they panned out and this was the result. Course when I got to class the teacher showed me how I could have done the same thing myself with the zoom. Live and learn, eh? :P

beegal, read the post above about the books that sinatraman recommended. They are awesome and are a treasure trove of information. I heartily recommend them as well. This guy lays everything out in an easy to understand manner. I really like the way he explains things!
