I have been hesitant to download Sonoma 14.3.1 to my MAC due to past experiences. I ask MAC users if they have had any issues with this release. Thanks.

Hi Mark:

I am using Sonoma 14.4.1. I have installed all the updates and have not had any issues with doing any of the updates. I am using a MAC 27 inch desktop that I got two years ago. The only thing I have found is that it is a little slow in booting up and also it occasionally tends to change my wall paper picture when I first turn it on. Apple tech support has not been able to help me with these issues. Other than that, all the updates seem to work fine.

Good luck with you updates.

No problems downloading Sonoma or with any of their recent updates. Good Luck.

I am interested in playing around a little with AI. Is there a software you all would suggest that I can get to start learning the process. A free one would be good, but if there is one for a nominal fee that I can download, that is OK as well. Does the PS Elements 2024 have this feature built into it?

I use an I-Mac with the Sonoma operting system.

Thanks in advance for any forthcoming information, suggestions or ideas.

My Canon Pixma9000 has given up the ghost after about 12(?) years (got it the day before CompUSA closed its doors).
Won't recognize an ink cartridge and it's out of service; doesn't recognize the empty cartridge nor any of several new ones.

So, I want a new printer that will do a nice job on images that I have taken. Prefer wireless, and bottled ink rather than cartridge.
Appreciate suggestions.

Thanks

Hi Bboh:

I needed a new printer for everyday stuff to replace my HP that stopped recognizing the clolor ink cartridges. I found the Epson Eco-Tank ET-2850 on at Costco last month. It came with an extra set of ink bottles. So far I am happy with it and it is working well with my I-Mac and the Ventura OS. I wish you well in whatever choice you make.

Thanks to all who responded to my printer question. After going through all the suggestions I looked at the printers suggested and checked out their prices. Right now Costco has the ET 2850 for $179 with extra bottles of ink and a super good return policy. I ordered one and it will be here on Wednesday. I hope to have it running shortly after receipt and hope I do not run into some of the issues mentioned. If I do, back to Costco it goes and I may try the Brother printers.

UHH comes through again with timely, accurate information to a question.

Hi Folks:

My HP Officejet 5200 series printer has bitten the dust and I need to get another printer. Many here have suggested the Eco Tank printers from Epson. I am interested your collective thoughts as to which model I should consider. I print some photos and other colored objects along with the general b&w stuff. As others have suggested the cost of ink is going out of sight and the eco tank system may be a good, less expensive, option. Any thoughts, model numbers and why would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the forthcoming information.

If funds allow, purchase the communications device. It will exercise the unit weekly and give you a report. Maintenance package with comm device runs around $600 per year in N J. Hopefully less expensive in AZ. My unit is a 20K, works reliably no matter what the weather conditions.

Thanks CWW. Another suggestion to add to my list.

We had a Generac that never failed to come on when needed. Be sure any purchase price includes what you need for connection to the house.

Thanks UTMike and the other respondents. You all have given me information toadd to my deliberations.

I am researching the feasibility of getting a standby electric generator for the house, perhaps a Generac. I would appreciate any information, pro or con about the unit, have you used it for emergencies, about how much did it cost to install, what size was it, etc. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any information you all may be able to provide.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did check Google and what was suggested was to put the printer in its original set up without all the updates. I did that and am waitiing to see if this works.

Thanks to all others who had a response.

My HP Office jet 5255 inkjet printer has started to not recognize ink cartridges, both from the original HP ones to refilled ones from other sources. When I turn it on, before it starts to print, I get the message to take out and then re-seat the cartridges. Once I do this then the printer works OK unless it sits idle for a while. Does anyone have any idea of what is going on? I cannot find a phone number to talk to an HP support person. If anyone has a tech support number, I would appreciate having it.

Thanks in advance to any ideas or help on this issue.

Thanks to all who responded to my heart question. Looks like no one is using the Amulete or the Watchman. Lots of good information however. I did have one try with ablation a couple of years ago but it did not work. I am seeing my cardiologist today and will discuss the options suggested in your replies, including another ablation try. I believe the Amulete and Watchman are only there to prevent clots from escaping from the left atrial appendage and getting to the brain. So far there does not seem to be a sure cure for AFIB, only for prevention of any blood clot migrating from the heart to the brain.

Thanks again for all the information you all provided. UHH comes through again!!!

Hi All:

I was told by my cardiologist that for my Atrial Fibrillation (Afib) I would be better off not taking blood thinners but instead having a device called an Amulet implanted in my left atrial appendage of the heart. This is a device like the Watchman that is popular now. Have any of you had such a procedure and what do you think of it. Any positive or negative issues, any recovery issues, changes of lifestyle after the procedure, etc. If you have the Watchman, same questions.

You can also send a private e-mail.

Any information you all can provide to me would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Good luck on you new photo venture with the wedding dresses. All the advice you received are good ones. However I did not see any consideration on your pricing to include an assistant to help with the shooting the photos. Are you going to use some assistant, will their payment be part of your price or will their fee be negotiated.

In negotiating the use rights you may want to be able to use the photos in your own advertising. Will the client be getting the model releases? If not, you many want to get some releases of your own.

Good luck and good shooting.

Regards

Always true Paul, and surely a good question to ask. Expectations need to be set up front. There's always that fine line between what you, the photographer thinks it's worth, and that of what the customer/buyer of the product thinks. Sometimes when a fair price can't be agreed upon it's just as well to walk from the job. Especially if you sense that the customer doesn't see the value of the service or product you are providing, and a customer like that can make your life miserable should you decide to take the job.

Hi:

For lens pouches I use the blue bags that come with Canadian Club liquor. They are soft and keep the lenses clean and protected in the camera bag. Also they are fun to collect. Good luck.
