Thanks for all the replies, especially WDROSS, that is exactly the answer I was looking for.
Why is it necessary? It takes a 77mm filter.
I want to purchase a circular polarizer for my 12-24 wide angle zoom. Is it necessary because of extreme wide angle to get a "thin" filter?

I have not shot much this year, this is one of my favorites.
I took this picture 2 days ago: Info as follows Nikon d3100, Nikon 55-200 f4-5.6 lens. Settings were F5.6 at 200 mm, exp. 1 sec, ISO 200 Auto WB, metering matrix. The question is the leaf in front is in focus, the flower in back is in focus, why is center out of focus? Thanks for input.
Question concerning a battery grip. When using a battery grip with 2 batteries are you actually using 2 batteries or just one and the other is just your "back up" It seems to me whenever my camera shows low battery both need to be charged. Sorry for being so dense but I do not understand electronics very well. Thank you.

Very nice. May I ask what you used for the black background, I have not found anything I like. Thanks
I have the same problem, showed up about 5 years ago. My Dr. explained that it is normal as we age. There is in the center of our eyes a jelly like substance that is called the "vitreous" that begins to break down. Mine is bad enough that sometimes when I am taking a picture, I have to to refocus because I can't see well enough through the "cloud". I have learned to live with it, but it is frustrating.
