Thank you all for the thumbs ups and the compliments, I'll be sure to share more as I get them!
While browsing through some photos I've taken in the last couple years these two shots caught my eye again

The last picture is the best, in my humble opinion. I hope mama wasn't close. When walking down a wooded trail a few years back I must have come to close to a fawn and mama charged me. I made a quick right turn into the brush and went the long way round.
The mama was relatively young, probably her first baby, and she actually ran away as I got close. She eventually came back to collect her baby soon after I got the photo and walked away.
Thank you all for the compliments!
I agree that #3 was the better shot, had to post the best one last!
Thank you Longshadow, UTMike, kpmac and NMGal for the thumbs up and the positive feedback! I'm glad you all liked the shots!

Amazing pictures. How did you get the turtles tp post?
Poul.
Thank you!
Painted turtles are pretty docile, it wasn't too difficult to get a shot of it. The snapping turtle, though, was a bit aggressive, it tried biting me a few times, but it eventually settled down for a portrait!

Very, very excellent images. I’m curious as to what the sizes of these turtles relative to each other. My experiences with painted turtles range from the sub-2 inch tabletop turtles that were given as prizes at fairs and carnivals, up to the lake and stream 6” or so variety. Snappers, though I have seen in Kentucky Lake many years ago near the spillway that could snap a two by four in half I would say they got as big as a wash tub, but I don’t know how many people today can relate to how big a wash tub is/was.

Thanks for the compliment! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing these shots!
I would guess that the painted turtle had a shell that was about 8-9", after a quick inspection it was a female- the underside of the shell was flat (a male's would be concave) also females are a bit bigger than males and the claws were pretty short (a male's claws would be larger).
This snapping turtle is one of the smaller ones that I've seen coming out of the pond, I would guess it's shell was about 15-16". I didn't inspect this one too closely cause it actually tried to bite my leg, I just took a quick shot and left it to it's business!
A Painted Turtle and a Snapping Turtle
It's been a while since I last checked into UHH, I just figured I'd share a few shots that I've taken since then
but on the positive side I was able to get this striking photo!

He hath the lean and hungry look.......
He keeps coming back, but he's been keeping a good, safe distance away- so I haven't been able to get any more decent shots.

Thanks!
It did manage to get a sparrow, but I didn't try to get a shot of that.
