Well I might as well give it a shot also.

While driving from Knoxville to Little Rock thinking of about the photograph I had taken the previous week, I developed the following.

It is my first venture into poetry/ hiaku/ etc. Please provide me feed back so I can further develop my abilities.

Thank you for your comments -- the good, the bad and the ugly -- all are appreciated.

It seems the sculpture is mobile. There are many combinations to play with, e.g., move the sculpture to an area the will provide a desirable blurry type background, move the camera to different positions, use a large aperture opening to isolate the sculpture, experiment using HDR, use various natural and flash lighting conditions, etc.

This should be a fun project. Enjoy

I do not know how to provide you a solution to your Mac programming, but it appears some of your emails need to be secured for your eyes only.

It also seems to me that your “staff” needs integrity and ethics training relative to your work station and email access.

If they need ethic training relative to your work station and email access; then, the follow-on question is “What other areas may they also need ethic training?”.

I probably would have a recording system installed to identify the specific culprit(s) and then decide if training or termination is in order.

In spit of the implied and stated negative comments and the rationalizations on how the country and flag supports this or that specific agenda and not others that have spew forth here — try this concept on for why the flag is not being displayed:

Individuals tend to become more involved if they have invested some part of themselves in the cause, unless something later vilifies the cause or their involvement.

The veterans of WW I, WW II, and Korea are dying off. There are less of them around to fly the flag.

Many of the Vietnam veterans were vilified upon returning home. I suspect some, but not all, of these veterans feel this country let them down and they are not now big flag waving type.

For several years there has been no effective draft. The military is a volunteer military.

I am going to suggest this volunteer military comes from a small portion of the population that either is already patriotic or has some disadvantage in our society (economic, social, wondering, educational, etc).

I suspect these individuals will become more patriotic and will be the ones displaying the flag in the future — if the country does not vilify them and they feel the country has not let them down.

They are doing their part. Now we must do ours. Bickering does not help.

From someone that served 1954 - 1977 US Navy & US Army.

I have learned to not use camera stabilization when using a tripod, but would like to know if it should be turned off when using a monopod.

All comments welcome.

I would like to thank you for commenting ahead of time.

I like this photograph as it is. To me I feel the hawk has found a morsel and is going for it.

The composition, exposure, focus are well done.

Personally, I think the solid blue back ground makes the hawk stand out and does not detract from the Hawk as some other background possibly would.

I believe that typically when looking up like in this photograph the underside of a bird is darker; but, you may want to try to lighten the underside some if it will bring out the detail. The feather highlighting is very well done.

Thanks for posting.

I admit to being a dinosaur. I have never understood what Lightroom brings to the table. Photoshop/Bridge does everything I can think of that Lightroom offers. I keep trying to find a use for this program and keep coming up short. The catalogs are a pain where I sit. PS not the most intuitive program but way ahead of Lightroom. Every time I want to make a tweak I have to hunt for the right module. Plus they stripped print options from PS. Now I have to scour Lightroom and then relearn how make a custom layout.

Now you Lightroom lovers have at me. The only thing it's done for me is weaken PS

I currently use Photoshop and bridge. I have been looking towards migrating to Light Room -- but I my major concern is how to migrate the currently assigned photograph keywords in Bridge to the keywords for the the photographs in Keyword.

Does anyone out there know where is the link/video/tutorial/etc that explains this?

Dave, thanks for participating.
If someone wishes to critique I'm sure you will benefit. But do keep in mind, that the critique there has been thus far has centered around VERY specific aspects of composition.
I hate to suggest you go through and read all 50 pages, but I'm sure you probably have plenty to show here that fits those parameters.
Again thanks and hope someone takes on your shot!! ;-)

Sorry, Have been following and reading the composition thread ; but I just posted in the wrong area.

I am going to have to pay closer attention to what I am doing and not what I think I am doing
