Any feedback and/or suggestions for possible other options would be greatly appreciated, but let's please try not to make this a political discussion and get it moved to the "Attic."

I believe your first action would be to go back to your doctor and ask if they can prescribe less expensive drug/s.
They should be able to query the insurance company and come up with a more reasonable prescription for her.

If not, you may want to get a second opinion from another doctor and explore buying from a Canadian pharmacy.

Taking the second shot changes your thinking but remember, it takes 2 weeks after the shot before you get the protection it provides. Don't celebrate on the way home from getting the shot!

Good thought. I'll remember! Thanks.

I am old fashioned, I have magnifying glasses and two "pocket microscopes" (folding pocket sized multi-lens magnifiers) I have owned since I took Geology 101 for 2 semesters (lab and field) back in the early 60's. And I still have the geologist's hammer with belt holster and the Buck General knife and sheath I got for our trips into the field, caves, open pits etc. The guy who was the professor had been a field geologist for Chevron for 20 years all over the world and believed in being prepared. The only thing he didn't have us pack was a gun since the college got antsy about students tramping around Western Kentucky and Tennessee armed. We were almost all small town and farm kids and the idea of tramping around unarmed was strange to us.

Robert; I totally understand your using pocket microscopes as I have 4 Hasting Triplets I keep in my shaving kit. 1 at 7X, 1 at 10x, 1 at 14X and the last one which I only use for small slivers at 20X.
IMHO, the magnifier App on my smart phone is absolutely the best for reading small print!
I'll never use the Triplets for reading anything! They were mostly used for failure analysis on mechanical fractures.

Use common sense --
Our thoughts:
The "key" here is your 2nd shot & even with that when appropriate wear a mask & practice social distance
We get our 2nd the 25th of this month -- we will then take our 1st visit to a restaurant without walking away with "take-out" since March 2020 -- They are now talking about opening amusement & baseball parks on a limited basis in April.

Thanks for the info.
Ahh, you are in front of me as our second shot is on the 26th but we are in southern Oregon and are getting it from Albertsons.
Hope the second is easy for you.

I am hoping to visit my old stomping grounds in Huntington Beach, El Porto and Santa Monica, CA.
I am going to wait for a month after I get my second dose before thinking about making the trip. It should be sometime in early May.
How are the people to people restrictions right now for hotels and restaurants?

When I look on the internet for places to stay no-one says anything about restrictions!
It makes me think it's business as usual for that area.

What do some of the locals see for restrictions right now?

One thing I worry about-item to discuss with the Opthalmologist-I was born near sighted and have 75 years of just taking my glasses off and getting close to do fine detail stuff and read tiny print.

Robert, I have always had same experience with reading small print on pill bottles. I removed my glasses and then I was OK. Now that I'm approaching 80, I find that using the 'Magnifier' App on my iPhone brings all the small print up to a size that I can read it with no problem.

I'd suggest you try using that App. I believe all phones must have something similar if you are not a mac/iphone user.

Man, does that bring back memories. I had forgotten how good it felt to just enjoy Muddy Waters, especially when I keep my eyes closed and just listen. I'm transported to the mid 50s listening to 'Jam with Sam' out of Chicago.
Truly enjoyable.
Thanks Mark!!

Once you pop a couple of starlings with a pellet they stop coming around for quite a long time. Thats the only thing that will keep those trash birds from hogging feed from all the other birds!

[quote=CHG_CANON]Icicles can form during bright, sunny, but subfreezing weather, when ice or snow is melted by sunlight or some other heat source (such as a poorly insulated building), and refreezes as it drips off under exposed conditions.

Beautiful pictures Paul.
Brings back some not to pleasant memories of Mt. Prospect, IL. in the 50s where we kids broke off icicles from the roof of our uninsulated house in the country. Boy, those icicles can be heavy, and darn dangerous!

Are you trying to reduce general noise in your general area or protection for your hearing. I shoot regularly on a range and use Pro Ears Gold but nothing will give you total protection. I lost hearing on an indoor range with ear protection. Now I use buds and muffs together. Buds only cut down about 10 decibels. Hope this helps Bob.

gsmith051 is correct as it is a rare helicopter logging pilot who flies without using both ear buds AND ear muffs. Most of their flying is done with their head outside of the cockpit so they need all the protection they can use.

Proving that even those born there don't really know how to drive in snow and ice! -

Every late fall, with the first 'sticky' snow/ice pack, I would drive to a shopping center's unplowed areas and practice accelerating, braking and turning the car's steering wheel to re-learn how the car responded and how best to drive it.

Great idea!
I was in Sweden years ago just when they had the first snow event, probably 10-12 inches. I was out in the country and saw car after car in ditches during my 30 mile drive in a rental SAAB. Biggest problem (I think) was everyone forgot how much they had to slow down.

Costco has a great price on Turbo Tax,
then you can see if they have any other trinkets.

I used Turbo Tax for the last 3 years and never again!!

When I went to record the fact I bought the Turbo Tax # from Costco, the Turbo Tax system wouldn't take it on their web site, so I had to pay for it twice. I was unable to get any customer service person/computer or any way of complaining (maybe because of Covid) but the fact is I was never able to get Turbo Tax to accept the fact I paid for their program at Costco and then I had to pay again when I finished my Tax return thru Turbo Tax.

I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro that is overheating. After researching online it appears to be a common problem due to the thermal paste going past it's sell by date. There are a number of how to vids on Youtube that make it look like a fairly easy procedure. What I would like to know is there any fellow senior hoggers who have attempted this repair and how easy was it? Thanks in advance and all the best!

Years ago I wondered if I had a similar problem as I have an early 2013 MacBook Pro. The owner of a computer store said I first needed to blowout any internal dust before going any further.
You can use one of those canned sprays and after turning the Mac off, spray the cooling slots in case and see if you notice a lot of dust coming out.
Turns out he was right and I haven't had a heating issue since. He also told me the Mac is designed to use the case as a heat sink so don't get too excited if it feels warm/hot as that is why it's metal.
