We've had snow, lots of it, falling steady and blowing, for two days.
As it ended the wind also died down and the birds were out again -- an opportunity to take portraits with a clean background.
Here are a few.

About the last -- about 20 minutes after daylight it was shot at ISO 6,400, about 50 feet away.

Please view in download.

Pierre, just stunning.

It was a good day all around considering the hard rain fall the night before. You can find some really interesting stuff going into craft and novelty stores. They're one of my favorite haunts.

Very nice work Snap Shot.

Not only do I wonder why anyone would pay so much, I also wonder why they would pay for something that isn't even particularly good. I have several shots from within the canyon that I feel are superior to this photo. In fact, I still fail to see what all the fuss is about.

I don't get it either.

It's like buying Salsa from 'New York City'!!!
The TV Ad where the 2 Cowboys sitting at the campfire talk about the City- Slicker buying his Salsa made in New York City.

I was shooting with the 580 for the first time mounted on top of the body and the box was just short of the front of the lens. My mistake was pulling out the white shade that screens the upwards portion of the flash. It was the saw setup I posted for the Chevy metal stack I did but with the 580 EX II vs the 340 EX II.
580 EX II & the 340 EX II Good deal Jim you got both Flashes. Way-to-go.

HOLY CRAP!!!!

I just had a customer in the store asking about AF fine tune on his D600 with his recently purchased Sigma 150-600mm Sport. Instead of just telling him how to do it, I wanted to show him the proper way to get the job done (just my way of doing things).
He did not have his body or lens with him so I used the same D750 body and lens I had used for this posted comparison since I had not yet AF fine tuned that lens to that body.
Imagine my surprise when I found out it was SERIOUSLY front focusing! I had to take the fine tune to +10 to get it to properly focus with the Sigzilla! (I had previously adjusted the fine tune on my D800E to +2 for this lens so I didn't think it would be far off with the D750. That's what I get for thinking!)
Looks like I will have to re-take the shots I used for this demo when I have another sunny day!
HOLY CRAP!!!! br br I just had a customer in the ... (show quote)

2 things, first have you done a comparison between the Sig & Tam 150-600mm's.
And second is there an explanation on how to do a proper 'AF fine tune' on long lenses liked these.
Thank you

Let me know when you get an answer to a very good question, Craig. Thanks.

Will do, I saw a comparison somewhere awhile ago and and can't find it.
I just broke the bank getting the Tamron and am really pleased with it
at normal to moderate resolutions. If I zoom into an unreasonable factor I can see imperfections.
Have not printed anything yet. Still getting the feel of how the Lens and Camera work best together.

[quote=MT Shooter]OK, so I just did this with the Canon mount Tamron and it was asked if I could also do the same with a 150-600mm Sigma. Why not?

Have you done a Sigma 150-600mm and Tamron 150-600mm Test shoot??? I would expect a $1,300.00 worth of difference in performance.

I just love the Bokeh you are always able to bring out in your work.
It shows a lot of attention to the details.

Thank you Donna and relbugman for helping to identify the mystery birds and flower fly. I guess we all mimic something at some time. Both of those critters fooled me.

They are a bird that is just here for the Winter. So I can't find them in the So Cal Book.
