I am not new to photography, but this is the first time that I have ever had the opportunity to try this. I appreciate the nice statements. But realize that beginners luck and a fast shutter can over come a lot.

Just went to our local county fair and came upon a roping competition. Armed with my new X-H1 and a 50 - 140 lens, I decided to try out my timing skills. Over the years, I have tried my luck at shooting just about all of the regular subjects. This was my first time shooting something like this. One thing I learned is this little camera does a great job. I was not afforded any extra freedom of movement so I shot between the railing. Feed back would be helpful.

For what it is worth at this point I had the X-T20 and my big hands kept pushing the buttons on the back at the most in opportune time. Even though I took a beating trading, I traded for the X-H1 and don't regret it at all. I had the 18-55 and kept it for the X-H1. My camera that I used before this was a D-810 with a Tamaron 24-70, great camera but I needed lighter to carry and this Fuji. I also bought the 50-140 2.8. This little camera and the lenses have really impressed me, after over 40 years of Nikons.

You mentioned basketball is what you plan on shooting. Go for speed of the lens, you will never regret it. This little camera is designed for video but don't let people scare you off. The X-H1 can compete with any camera out there. Also, this is camera is so much fun. It truely brings a lot of fun back to photography.

You have a great security system.

Your noticing the moon through the branches is something the "new generation" is missing while watching their phones.

Tack on sharp. You should feel good about these.

Don't miss Hopewell Rocks at Low Tide. This allows you to walk through out the "rocks". Moncton and Truro are the places to see the tidal bore. Halls Harbour, NS is where at low tide the local fishing boats rest about 30' from the high tide level. These boats rest on the bottom of the harbour. Lunenburg is a beautiful old coastal town that you don't want to miss. Even though the tourist overwhelm it try and see Peggy's Cove. It is a photographers desert.

While up there try a save a little time for Prince Edward Island. Going to the island cost nothing but they will get you coming out. Going over by ferry then returning by the 7 mile bridge will give you a free ride over and the lowest fair to return. If you go the other way the ferry is rather expensive.

My wife and I had a wonderful trip there last August.

Yep, that is the Hillbilly way. One lady was there with D750 on a tripod that was set up within an inch of the dropoff. she told me that she had rented the camera (like that makes a difference).

Someone told me before I went to carry a monopod to put out over the edge. I did it with a time delay and it worked very well.

I have the Fuji X-T20 and like most everything about it. The pictures are crisp and brilliant. I use the kit lens 18-55. My history is that I've used Nikon full frames for over 55 years and have grown accustomed to my way of holding a camera. This little camera makes it difficult to use it without hitting a button on the back that stops my shot until I reset it. Therefore, I use it for shots that aren't action. Again, the pictures are hard to beat even with my D-810.

Try the road at Tremont(just inside the park from Townsend and on the way to Cades Cove) to the end. It follows a large creek and gets more spectacular as you get to the end of the road. If you are a hiker there is a trail from there that continues to follow the creek. There is a really nice cascade and lots of small falls along the trail. This trail is an old railroad so it never gets steep.

Also a road that exits the Cades Cove loop is the Rich Mountain Rd. Very nice with some good views of the Cove.

Watts Bar Lake is just over the hill from there. Since this is a TVA dam and recreation area there should be ample parking and visibility.

I like your profile name. I use to use a lot of Acufine back in the 60's. Film could really be pushed by it. Now I turn a dial and I can have even better results and higher ISO(ASA) than ever before.
