Especially the stars.

One of my projects was to capture some grate night sky scenery. It is an amazing place for such type of photography, and some high hills where you can spend night after night. As I had rainy weather most of the time, I was not able to get up those hills. I was fortunate to get some shots from our garden last evening before I left.

Your excellent series captured the essence of this serene and beautiful place. Well done!

Hi Carol, thanks for viewing. I only wish I could have done more this time, there is so much more from that place I would like to show. Better luck next time as there will be another time :)

Thank you for posting these. It is great that you have such a wonderful outdoor experience that sadly too many of us do not. I looked at all four posts and like everything about them. Great.

Hi Ken , glad you like them. Yes I must admit I am lucky to still have the opportunity to go back to this places , and I guess my love for outdoor and hiking has it's roots from this place. I spendt many summers there during my childhood.

Quite a turkey. Nice shots.

Thanx Jerry , I did not know that turkeys are very curious birds, and had some fun taking photos of them because they often photobombed my pictures. My flash was attracting them , and they were sticking their heads in front of my lens. I was laughing by myself with the turkeys making those sounds of curiosity.

Well, I just shot some pictures for her.
She is actually taking her diploma for some nails salong or something like that , so I've been asked to take a couple of photos she can post.
So i did, but did I do any good ?

First two are converted to black and white, then blended the color version in order to bring the red nails.
Last one is just slightly retouched .

Did I mentioned I've started to use an external flash ? :)

I was hoping for a bracketed version, only to find I've managed to get all the other shots out of focus. So this one was just a version i did by making copies and change exposure on each in order to blend them and get both colors and details.

My relatives have a passion for flowers and bees. They have like 25 beehives, producing honey , the good stuff.
And you can imagine there are tons of flowers around here.

Hi folx !
Been a while since I've posted something. While my camera is in Estonia due to Nikon's recall of D750 this year, I've started to process.
In short, my vacation this year was devided in two. First part was with my kids for the annual trips to the beloved amusement/zoo in Kristiansand (Norway) park followed by a trip to Lego Land in Denmark. As this vacation came to an end, I went on a vacation by myself, to my birth country Romania. So I will post some memories from this summer vacations.

To begin with, some shot from the beautiful country side, in the plains of the Carpathian mountains, west part of Romania. A place where you can find peace, breath clean air, enjoy real ecologic fruits and vegetable, wake up to green scenery every morning, listening to the sound of farm animals here and there. This is a real refugee for me. Unfortunately I did not managed to do everything I had in mind, since most of my time there was cloudy and rainy. It sabotaged my project a lot.

Enjoy

After an hour hike up the hill with my cousin and her daughter. It's been 7 years since last time I saw her.

(Download)

What to expect hiking those hills. In the background you see Carpathian Mountain with huge deep forests

(Download)

My view in the morning. Enjoying the coffee. The hill in front, is the hill I had to hike everyday with goats and sheep when I was just 11 years old

(Download)

These valleys, where filled with hay stacks as these. Not so many anymore. The place is slowly going back to the nature as it's not that populated anymore.

This is the night sky you can enjoy. Every single clear night, this is your sky.

Hi ED,

Since your computer does work with other browsers , have you tried uninstalling Chrome and then try a new install. I would delete remaining folder from C:\Users\<your profile folder>\appdata\Local\Google. Also do A reboot after uninstalling.

I was not familiar with this error so I googled a little. Some network cards issues, specially when having both wi-fi and cable, not sure it apply to you. But if you want to take the approach without uninstall/reinstall you could try to
- disable your wifi network card if any
- try doing a repair on the network card
- reset your chrome

These were the most common suggestion, it worked for some , for others not.

And btw : When did this started ? I see a lot of strange errors which I often find to be Windows 10 updates. If this has just started to happen, I would look into doing a system restore from the last point. I've solved some weird cases just by doing that. Just another suggestion.

Best of luck
C.

Having owned the D750 for over two years, this is the first time I'm used Effects. At least I don't have to select that Mode again.

Haven not touch that function since either :)

back in the days of my D5100, I also had to try this effect mode. Without any success to capture one single "sketch" photo that could be pleasant for my eyes.
The old of the house where I stayed for a little time, she wanted som photos from her area, but she insisted I took all the pictures with mode.

While she was ecstatic about the result , I was questioning my self why did they introduce this option and who really wants such photos. Apparently there are people out there loving it.

Hi Rab-Eye
Whenever I want to check for dust , I do like tinplater sugested. I can easy see those spots , and often before I go 1:1
Having in mind in Oslo they charge just over 100$ to clean my sensor, I started doing my self, but not before I read and seem how people do it. I think I payed around 20$ for swap cleaning kit, both wet and dry, eclipse, blower etc, and used 3-4 times by now. Not on the same body. And still have for a couple more cleanings. I was very afraid to do it the first time, and I try to be very careful when doing it.

C.

PS: I always try the blower first. If that doesn't help , then the swap is the tool.

Hi Fotoman150,

This can be a long thread, and without more information about the rest of the system it may be hard to answer 100% accurate.
But having in mind the LR is a demanding app for system resources you must take in consideration the following: CPU , RAM , and Harddrive
Performance will depend of the combination of all three.

Now , that 4TB My book, seems to be USB 3.0 and 2.0 compatible. If your computer has USB 3.0 then this drive should not be the bottleneck. But if you system supports up 2.0 , then this is your first bottleneck. From experience I can say that the theoretic transfer speed over USB2.0, is very hard to achieve. from the theoretic speed of about 50MB/s, cant say I've seen that too often. Mostly i've seen is around 20-30MB/s. Having in mind LR will have to process each file, there will never be a constant speed from start to finish. So 20-30MB/s will also drop. That's due to exporting data information - write file to disk - process next picture. So here it helps with a fast storage.

My system can operate with 50MB/s (due to limitation on drives in my NAS for now) , and from one test of exporting 1200 pictures, with full size, it's calculated just over an hour. But still , I do not calculate my speed to be constant 50MB/s from start to finish. This is due to the process of file creation from LR. If I was to copy a single file that has the same size as all the 1200 pictures I export , then my system would be able the achive the 50MB/s and hold it constan over the entire copy process. So I hope you understand why the process of LR export takes more time.

It seems like the amount of memory LR uses for this process, is about 3GB ram. I have plenty. But If your system has something around 8GB (i am assuming a standard PC/MAC) then it would help to add more ram as I believe your system + LR export is going to eat over 50%-60%, of RAM and will cause your system to swap to disk. That will also create a dramatic change in speed. At last , you should make sure there are no other disk operations to your external 4TB at the same time as your export runs. Like the backup you mentioned.

If you find your drive is not the bottleneck , then your other windows resource are the bottleneck. Like CPU and RAM.
In order to investigate a little more, you should take use of Task Manager and Performance tab and watch the CPU, RAM, and Harddrive while you export.
Here should be fairly simple to read. The high constant percentage of cpu ram and/or disk should indicate where your system struggles.

I hope it help.
