Nice well defined head and solid tail and your complaining?
You've gotten much better pictures with your homemade setup than most.
Keep up the good work.

"Rosendale Trestle - Railway Trail" I like the first 1, better 1/3s I think.

Hi Erv thank you and it's 80* outside right now and I'm off to a Star Party at Vandenberg AFB. Maybe I can post some Astro pics.

Good captures...believe the first one may be a Cedar Waxwing.

You are absolutely right, thank you for picking up on that. We have the Yellow Cardinals here too.
I just assumed to quickly without looking closely. Both of them Winter here.
I just started shooting birds 2 months ago.

I'll have to try out auto ISO with M as well. Mine were a little over exposed and washed out when I used it with TV.
Here are my settings for the three birds. Sharpie: 1/500sec, f/6.30, ISO 2500 (very cloudy), focal length 600mm. Same settings for Pine Warbler but ISO 2000. Cardinal: 1/400sec, f/5.60, ISO 1000, focal length 400mm. I probably differ with most members on this, but I don't really worry about having every feather tack sharp. My goal is to have a sharp focus on the eye, and if it's not, I toss out the image.

I try to always go for the eyes too.

Hi Craig. For the Sharpie: TV mode (shutter priority), 1/500 sec, f/6.30, ISO 2500 (very cloudy conditions), focal length 600mm. Warbler: same as above but ISO 2000.

Thank you Donna, I've been shooting at 50 - 100 ISO and slower Shutter Speed. I think I'll ramp it up a bit and try your settings.

Dim lighting and long focal lengths=high ISOs. Please try downloads. 8 birds posted. Sorry about that. 3 birds posted. Unable to post all for some reason.

Hi Donna, just wondering what setting you use for your Tamron 150-600mm to get these quality shots.

Before download it was #1 (upper image) after download it's #2. Both work for me. Damn sound like a politician's response.

Thanks for looking in Astroturf. #1 is way over processed to get both light and dark portions.

Thank you Michael. No one really likes Crows to begin with. They're obnoxious.

The weather was cloudy and cold when I photographed these two stately Bald Eagles. I used a 600mm setting. The distances varied.
Again, all shots were hand held. Please use the download.
