And what are you suggesting for hard, non-fake news?

And we are both working from home. Missouri is one of the few states where the Governor won't demand people stay home.

I'm a news hound. When not teaching or doing photography, I'm always following all the news I can.

This morning, on the Today Show, a highly respected medical expert in New York said:

New York today? That's the way the rest of the country will be in ... 2 weeks.

Thanks eye opening.

I think it would be so great if the DSLRs had the 'eye tracking focus'.

If I were to tell my students, I would have wall-to-wall moans. But you already know that.

Basil, you listed a Canon T-70 film camera. I had a film Elan camera. Does your T-70 have the "eye tracking", where the camera actually watches for 'where you are looking'? I loved that, for I could move my eyes left, then right, and the auto focus would adjust to what I was actually looking at. Does your T-70 have that too?

Analogman, 114 cameras???? Where do you store all those?

Being self-quarantined actually 'twist my arm' to use my pocket camera, experiment with indoor photography, and learn that small camera better.

So, even self-quarantined, and teaching from home, this is not all that bad ... at all!

For anyone who is bored, you can help me teach my physics class ... online. This is an unusual class, but actually fun to teach.

BTW, two Canon 5DII, and two Lumix TZ80 pocket cameras. Actually, it's the Lumix camera I need to learn more.

I certainly do remember the car hop service. That was always so much fun.

Let me amplify a comment made by Jerry. Education definitely makes a difference. Major difference. Example follows. Many may think that education is all about memorizing rules, memorizing formulas, memorizing dates. Absolutely not true. Example: As I teach college physics (and taught physics on the high school level), the semester may begin with developing (thought to mean "memorize this") fundamental concepts. This takes one or two days. After that, it is all about concepts. While I'm teaching from home right now, "holding cyber classes" every Tuesday and Thursday, this has naturally expanded to Monday and Wednesday too, and I welcome it.

Okay, thanks for reading and time for me to make my point. My students must show me their work, their math work. Not difficult to do via the Internet. Now that we're "deep" into the concepts of 'work', 'power', 'potential energy', and 'kinetic energy', more of the the homework does NOT require a calculator, but requires "mental articulation". THIS is a major goal of mine, and of my colleagues. Mental articulation, or what many may simply call "thinking". That is what quality teaching and learning is all about.

Thank you Jerry for starting this thread about education. And it can happen at home.

Sounds like a good plan for the use of your older computer.

For what it is worth, my college classes have been switched to "cyber teacher" immediately. So beginning next Tuesday, 3/17, I'll be teaching my physics students from home. You won't be alone in cyber teaching.

Sorry, when I saw Mercedes-Benz Stadium, I thought it was a different website. I'll try it again on my G-5.

I wonder if anyone has tried using Thunderbird e-mail client on an older iMac?

Thank you for the ideas. I powered up my G-5, entered macquarium.com and it did not go to it.
