There are some very good to excellent Bridge cameras, in different Brand names, mentioned thus far. You, have to decide whether you want a 1" sensor, or the tiny 1/2.3" Naturally, the 1" is going to cost you more money. My Nikon Bridge camera has the tiny sensor. But, for the frequency that I use it, it meets my needs. Would, I prefer to have a better camera, such as the Sony RX10iv? Of course I would. Without hesitation. But, always make the best of what you own already. Until the time comes along, that you can upgrade. Money, will be tight for many now. Especially, since we are in this Coronavirus pandemic, at the moment.

I am curious about how many UHH readers primarily shoot with bridge cameras. My only camera is a Canon PowerShot SX60 IS. I understand its limits and am very happy with the results I achieve. I mostly photograph birds and landscapes. I'm interested in whether other photographers would discount my work due to the camera I use.

One of my three cameras is a Nikon Coolpix, Bridge L840. The other two are a Nikon DSLR and a 20 megapixels Sony pocket camera. I use the Bridge camera for extended focal range. Because, the longest focal range lens I have for my DSLR is 300mm. My Bridge camera goes to 855mm. I have seen the Canon SX60 at a camera shop, when it was first released. It's a very good camera. Shoots JPEG and RAW, and has a focal range to 1365mm. It superseded the SX50. And, is a better camera. IMO. Keep it. It will serve you well.

This an extremely serious issue but it does not hurt to lighten the mood for time to time.

Do any of you shoot the pocket-sized Sony DSC HX99 camera, and if so, what is your opinion of the 1/2.3 sensor? I currently use the RX100m6 with a 1" sensor, and wondered about the difference in image quality.

Billnikon has mentioned this camera on this forum quite a few times, that I took notice of it. I own a Sony 20 megapixels cypershot pocket camera, that is now 5 years old. It has the tiny 1/2.3" sensor. But, only shoots JPEG. The HX99 shoots JPEG and RAW. And, from the photos posted on this forum. It more than passes the test for sharpness. With the fixed Zeiss lens.

That was funny. Yes, another dwelling place is recommended. I once met a guy, about 40 years ago, from the Caribbean, who was into voodooism. He had a doll too, full of straight pins, that didn't work as he planned on someone. However, don't drink or eat anything from these people. I have been told. You never know what's in it? To friend, wife, husband, etc., should beware.

I lost three High School Classmates in that war. Two of three were Army Draftees. One Army enlistee.1969-70. I saw their names on the Vietnam Memorial Wall, when I visited DC in 2015. My late cousin, US Army retired, from Ft. Bliss, TX, survived that war. But, battled sicknesses thereafter. I just saw, not long ago, on TV, a documentary on the battle to take Hamburger Hill. It also happens to be my favorite Vietnam War movie. It is hard to believe, the Vietnam War began over 50+ years ago. That's over a half century.

Great shots. When you get a certain age, it is more difficult to get up from the ground, than getting to the ground. I rarely use my tripod, but your method worked for you. And, others, if they can remember it.

My local grocery store has adopted the first opening hour to Seniors, 60+ years of age today. Since, I can't get any eggs, for over a week now. I may have to take advantage of that privilege. Unfortunately. I don't expect a scenario, as depicted in your joke though. However, it was humorous.

My father paid about $200 for a Minolta SRT-101, with a 50mm lens, during the early 1970s at a camera shop. I remember Vietnam Vets, said all SLR cameras were cheaper at military bases overseas. I would borrow that camera occasionally. It was my first and only experience with a SLR camera. That camera, some claimed, was as good as the Nikon. My father sold the SRT-101 around 2001. He gave me his tripod that is 40 years old now. I still have it. I now own a Nikon DSLR. Sony bought out Minolta. Since about 2006.

My last grocery trip was March 17. I had my wife's list of products, but could not use it because they were gone from the shelves. I had to pick anything left. Yes cheese products were gone. Life will be harder for a long time. Please do not go out for Easter!! It will just keep the spread going. I went for my annual physical (set up last year and a day) and had my temp taken as I got to the door. Everyone inside had a face mask on. When I left, I set up a next years date. I hope that is attainable. My wife has medical issues and can NOT go outside the house. If I get the virus, she will not survive. It will be on me. PLEASE stay home and safe!!

I traveled nearly 90 miles to different communities, hoping I could get 8 rolls of toilet paper. None was available. I did buy a few canned goods at each store visited. The next day I lucked out and got a 12pack of toilet paper at Walmart. They allowed only one package per customer. No eggs, cheese, or flour existed. There were milk and orange juice, and 4 bags of sugar, which I bought only one. Bread was scarce. There were meats available, but no chicken. This is an experience, that I hope, will not be the new normal, for several months. Or possibly more? The supermarket employee told me there is plenty of food. The truck drivers who bring in supplies, can't meet the immediate buying and demands. that are going on right now. And, each store's storage space, is limited.

The first SD card I purchased was in 2009. It was a Lexar 4gb Class 4. I still have that SD card. And, it works flawlessly. Slow though. I keep it for a souvenir now.

I gave away about a half dozen SanDisk Ultra 64gb Class 10, SD cards this past Xmas. One of the recipients, who owned a Nikon D3300, claimed it worked good for video on his camera. Since, I don't do video. That card does well for me shooting stills. But, if I had a Sony a6400 crop mirrorless, I would go for the SanDisk Extreme Pro. As, recommended in earlier threads. Especially, if you plan to do stills and video. They cost more, but worth it. Good luck.

Prime Minister Abe of Japan, and the International Olympics Committee (IOC), have come to an agreement to postpone the Olympics for one year. One of the agreements, is that it will still be called the 2020 Olympics. Japan had initially invested $12.5 Billion into having it. But some accountants, say it could be upwards to $24 Billion equivalency, after all is added up. Canada and Australia, had already said, it would not send a team this year. That may have had something to do with the decision. And athletes, said they couldn't train as well as they should, while the Coronavirus is still hanging around. Globally.

IFAW?????

How strange humans have been killing and eating animals for centuries if not hundreds of thousands to millions of years and now it is becoming a problem. So apparently if man stops hunting and eating wild animals these viruses won't appear. Is that what you are saying? But what about animals themselves who eat other animals every day and have since the planet was created? Are you saying they contribute nothing negative but that it is only man who is at fault?

I agree with much of what you say. However, money to be sent (1.6) has not quite yet been final ized. It is necessary. The money is being held up because the large money for big businesses is being doled out by one man as he sees fit, w/o any accountability. Let us separate the money for state and local gov’t and individuals and send it now. Let us work out the details for big business after we take care of the little guys. We should not tie such issues together.

I thought this Bill was a foregone conclusion. Automatic passage. However, when I later checked the news when I returned home from running errands, I discovered it was delayed. Based, on some of what you said in your reply. And some other partisan issues. Let's hope this can be resolved properly, to help those who really need it. $1.6 Trillion is a lot of money.
